It was only when I looked at my calender just today that I realized your birthday is quickly upon us. I was instantly filled with guilt as I discovered that nothing for this celebration has been planned. This cannot stay this way any longer. With your birthday drawing nearer, plans must get underway within this week so we will be ready for one massive celebration.

With that said, I was wondering if you could spare me a few hours of your time this week to discuss arrangements for your party. I do realize that you may or may not be too keen on the idea, but we find it necessary to throw you a party and invite all of your friends, important officials, the whole lot.

I don't know how many time I must inform you all that I'd prefer you to call me Merrick. With that settled I shall continue. As much as I would prefer spending my birthday alone I understand that it is customary for the Minister to receive a celebratory night. In that case I will disregard the feeling to lock myself away for the day and actually meet with you to go over certain details.

I am not a very extravagant man, Callista. I do not expect these plans to entail anything of the classy manner. Though this will be discussed further when we meet. I can spare a few hours this coming Tuesday seeing as my afternoon has been cleared. Please owl me a place of meeting and I shall see you there.

I apologize for my mistake earlier. I know you have asked me to call you by your first name on numerous occasions but I do hope you can understand that it’s not something I’m used to. The other two ministers I worked for before always demanded everyone around the office call them by their official title so you can see how it’s difficult for me to make the transition. I’ll try my hardest for you though.

I am very pleased to hear that you’re willing to go through with the celebration. I assure you that we’ll make it one that will be right up your alley.

Tuesday is perfect for me. I’ll be finished with a few things of paperwork by then so we’ll have plenty of time to discuss things then. How does a meeting at the Dragon’s Claw sound? I’m positive I could arrange the use of their V.I.P room for our meeting.
