His thoughts crossed her recent angry owlled letter, and how he'd disappointed her. He couldn't help but feel slightly sorry that he hadn't told her that he was coming back, but that was quite the end of that feeling. His sister was... dramatic. Perhaps overly so, and he hadn't bothered to let her know that he was back for fear that she would make somewhat of a scene and anger him.

He pulled on his jacket and exited his temporary apartment. It wasn't as cold tonight as he thought it would be. He glanced down at the name and address of the person he'd be working for tonight. The job description had been for only males, which led him to believe that whatever they'd be doing was for a mostly sexist boss. He didn't care. He would try to have as much amusement as possible, while still trying to act as suave as possible. He had hoped it wouldn't be as hard as it sounded. Shouldn’t be that horrible to work with, should it?

The backbeat thumped through the crowd of gyrating hormone-driven dancers gyratings against one another wanting to make a connection with somebody even though they were likely to end up the next morning feeling broken and used.
Sitting at the back table a glass of burbon was chasing the bottle of imported whiskey he had started the night off with. Behind the glass was none other than Patrick Holiday, a girl placed under his arm possessivly, a glance of terror and expectance glittering her otherwise attractive features. She knew a false move would end her up in a place that she didn't want to be in. She knew it would end in her on the ground scrambing to get out of his eye sight. So for now, she waited until he was done with her, resigned to her fate.
Another sip passed through his barely parted lips, hissing he turned to look at the girl, adressing her without ever making eye contact.

Lolling off of his tongue, he really didn't have any regard as to get feelings, the even tone of his voice only added to the intimidating demeanor of the jerk placed at the back of the bar, watching the crowd like they were his own toys...

Victoria had got into her four-poster bed shortly after one in the morning. However, she was restless with the events of that night replaying over and over in her mind, and hadn’t actually managed to fall asleep atop her bed sheets till about three, not even knowing when she’d fallen into her deep but uneasy slumber only to be woken three hours later by her biological alarm clock.

Saturday was a day for Quidditch and she’d normally be on the pitch, practicing from 8am onwards – she only realised her mistake of getting up after the thought struck her that it was only the first week back after school had started and Quidditch practices wouldn’t be scheduled for another fortnight at least. She promptly fell asleep again, still sprawled with her white satin robe flayed about her in a random fashion, kinks in her hair, and bags of sleep (or lack of) beginning to show under her eyes. As Celestine Warbeck hit a top A on her wireless alarm clock at about eight am, she fumbled for the ‘off’ button before hitting the pillows again not getting up until nine-thirty once she realised that she’d pre-arranged a meeting with the Slytherin Sex-god for half an hour later.

Cursing unattractively, she flew off her bronzed bed, grabbing a towel and tooth brush on her way. It was less than therapeutic when she had stripped completely and thrown herself into the shower, not bothering to lock the door until she met her reflection in the mirror. She analysed the marks splattered liberally across her neck and shoulders, and her bruised wrists before rushing back and bolting the bathroom door. Soon the tiled cavity was steamed up, billows of water vapour tumbling out of her cubicle as hot water streamed down her conditioning hair. Tori might not have been girly, but that didn’t make her any less hygienic. The smell of hibiscus flowers filled the bronze and navy bathroom, calming Tori’s restless nerves.

The effect didn’t last for long after she had clambered out realising it was about 9:45am, she had about fifteen minutes to meet him by the Pumpkin patches which were at least 10 minutes away, and she hadn’t even gone down for breakfast yet; an item of the day she was not prepared to miss, especially for someone like him. She fell onto her bed, hoisting up a pair of semi-opaque black tights (with a ladder on her thigh) and a denim skirt (which just about covered the ladder). She didn’t leave without strategically pulling on a black polo neck. Luckily it wasn’t unusual or suspicious to be wearing one for this time of the year and it was slightly chilly outside, considering the sun had barely risen from its dusky abode. It also did a rather fantastic job in covering up her copious amounts of bites.

Rushing out the common room with barely five minutes left and her dripping wet (making her look faintly like she was drowning); she came to a standstill in the middle of the hallway. Why the hell was she rushing? It wasn’t as if meeting him was a matter of life or death. A small smile lit up her face as she strutted into the great hall for breakfast, her low heeled brown boots clicking crisply on the parquet flooring. It wasn’t too crowded, being a Saturday and all – most people tended to sleep in during breakfast (as she should have been doing at that precise moment as opposed to piling toast onto her plate) and resort to a healthy brunch.

Picking up a blueberry muffin to finish off and some lychee juice, she carried it out of the halls munching happily as she strolled the partially dark grounds. The strong, lone beam of sunlight was pouring slowly, but steadily across the lake, leaving a dynamic path of gold in its wake. A northerly breeze ruffled up her damp curls which she quickly sorted out with a drying charm. Brushing off the final crumbs off her lap, she slurped the last of the juice before popping a tooth-flossing string mint into her mouth; she didn’t’ exactly want to greet someone with bits of blueberry in her dazzling white teeth.

Fifteen minutes late, not bad. Considering she woke up about 45 minutes ago. She walked placidly over to Hagrid’s hut following the route to the pumpkin patches from there. Since it was near to the forest, everything she stepped on emitted a faint ‘crunch’, drizzled with fallen autumn leaves. The sun had risen slightly above the lake bathing everything in warm morning light. Her eyes surveyed her surroundings in her usual haughty attitude before falling onto a body lying on a blanket of green and orange foliage. Her quarry. She couldn’t be silent with the continuous breaking of laves under her feet and it seemed neither could he, emitting a loud belch.

“Nice” Tori’s first word of the day was nothing more than a jibe. “Not only do you lack pleases and thank-you’s, you lack excuse me’s too.” She smirked. She didn’t have a problem with belching at all; it was, if anything, satisfying. And he knew her better than that; this was what Tori was like normally. She took up a seat on a particularly large pumpkin nest to his recumbent figure, quickly scanning him. “How’ve you been?” An odd greeting considering that they’d only seen each other nine hours before, it was rather queer.

I've been meaning to come back for some time now, and finally I found the time to do it. This time, I promise to stick around and not leave unexpectedly. I've missed you all a lot. <3)

Grace slid forward in her seat, groaning as her forehead hit the table. Whoever thought of examinations and testing students was the cruelest and most inhumane person that ever lived. The Ravenclaw had never felt so exhausted and lifeless in all the years she had walked the Earth. The night before she had stayed up, juggling textbooks and notebooks in both hands. Grace had spent the whole week finishing final essays and projects, plus working during the nighttime that she had forgotten about her two hardest finals: Ancient Runes and Muggle Studies. They were extremely exciting topics, which Grace had always found pleasure in studying. In fact, her and her father would have numerous discussions and debates on Muggle Studies. Her mother, on the other hand, would lecture and fascinate Grace with more information on Ancient Runes. They were wonderful, excellent, even fantastic subjects, but there was so much information the students had to cram into their heads. So, with two 50-pages worth of notebook filled, Grace began studying at six o’ clock in the evening, switching from Ancient Runes to Muggle Studies in twenty minute intervals.

It was the most atrocious night she had ever sat through. It seemed as though after she read one set of notes, she would move onto the next and completely forget everything. Grace would constantly be distracted or just not paying attention due to the need for sleep. Empty Styrofoam cups lay on the floor. There were at least twenty of them, as Grace had gone through two every hour. In reality, she had finished both sections by five, but once she tried to review what she had studied, she realized that basically nothing had registered. So, Grace went back to Ancient Runes and then Muggle Studies, quizzing herself over and over again until she was able to recite the information in her sleep. Ryann had been sweet enough to bring her a donut from breakfast and thankfully, more coffee. Five minutes before seven, Grace ran out of the dormitory, with a half-full cup of coffee in one hand and her notes in the other hand. Her book bag was quickly thrown on her shoulder, which Grace stupidly put on with the coffee in the cup. The cup flew out of her hands, part of it spilling all over her blue tube top. Grace gasped, sitting the coffee cup on someone’s dresser and trying desperately to get the stain off. Coffee stained easily, so it obviously couldn’t come out that quickly. Even so, Grace had to no time to change. She had to go and take her Ancient Runes finals!

She made it to the class just before her professor shut the door behind her. Luckily, every one of her professors had explained the same directions and rules every time she took a final, so Grace had a few extra minutes to review. She scanned the notes, flipping through them and using her best speed-reading skills. As she neared the last section of notes, someone cleared their throat directly above Grace. She jumped slightly, looking up to see her professor standing over her with a stack of parchment in his hand. ”It’s testing time, Miss Patterson. Please put away your notes.” Grace blushed, moving her everything but her wand and a few quills underneath her desk. “Sorry, professor.” She said shyly as he put the final before her. Grace took a deep breath, picking up her quill and started reading the first question. The stressed girl had exactly an hour and fifteen minutes to finish the final, and the testing packet contained 150 questions that were all differently formatted. An hour later, Grace had finished the packet with the same anxiety-worn expression upon her features. She began checking over the test, making minor changes and adding detail to the written part. As soon as she was done checking, she stood up, walking over to the professor’s table and placing it on his desk. The professor smiled at her, and Grace forced a weary smile back. ”Now, Miss Patterson, you’ll do wonderfully. Don’t be so hard on yourself.” Grace nodded and gathered her things, looking around at her classmates as she did so. They weren’t as worried as her; probably because they hadn’t crammed. She sighed, looking down at her stain as she exited the classroom.

Her Muggle Studies final was right after Potions. Luckily, they had already taken the final for potions so their professor decided to grant them study halls during their next few potions classes. Grace arrived at the Potions classroom early, but she was not alone. Other students who had finished their finals early had gone to their next class, Potions. Grace sat down, taking out her Muggle Studies notes and reviewing each section at a more reasonable pace. After about forty minutes of studying, Grace’s eyes began to droop. Her elbow was propped up on the table as she began to fall asleep. Moments later, her Potions professor woke her up with a light tap on the back. Grace sat up, apologizing and continuing to read her notes. Towards the end of the class, Grace was positive she would not stay awake for the Muggle Studies final. Her Potions professor granted her permission to leave early and get some coffee from the Grand Hall. Once Grace had that cup of coffee, she felt much more awake to take the exams. Surprisingly, Grace arrived early to Muggle Studies. Perhaps this final would go a lot smoother than the Ancient Runes one had. Grace bit her lip nervously as the professor passed out the exams. Through another hour and fifteen minutes, Grace racked over much more complex questions than the Ancient runes final. After an hour and fourteen minutes, Grace was finishing writing the last essay question. Just seconds before her professor called time, she finished. Lightheaded and almost completely delusional, Grace turned in her test and gathered her things.

When she left the room, only one thing was on her mind: sleep. Thank Merlin that Muggle Studies was right before lunch or she would have died. As she slugged up to the common room she was looking hammered with her shaky walking and drowsy expression. Many people looked at her oddly, but Grace was too tired to even realize. She was nearing a staircase that was just a hall away from the Ravenclaw common room when she saw some of her fellow house girls giggling and laughing just above the stairs. They saw Grace and squealed, almost tripping when they went down the staircase to greet her. They lunged on her with a death-hug, as Grace clung desperately to the side of the staircase. “Wow… guys… I’ve missed you too.” She said blandly, patting the girls on their backs. Their weight (though they were not very heavy) was slowly pushing her to the ground. The girls pulled back, ignoring Grace’s dead-like stare. ”Didn’t you hear?! There’s a party in the Ravenclaw common room and dorms in honor of the seventh year Ravenclaws!” Grace kept staring at them, shocked to what she was hearing. To her that only meant one thing: no sleep. “But… I want… to sleep.” She whimpered, almost ready to cry. The girls laughed at her and patted Grace on the head, rushing away to the Ravenclaw party. Grace sunk down on a step, knocking the back of her head on the staircase a few times. This was extremely not fair.

Despite the fact that her legs were going to fall off, Grace got up and started walking to the library. It was always quite there and she could fall asleep on one of the couches while she was ‘reading’ a book. The librarian wouldn’t notice unless she began snoring. Lucky for Grace, she didn’t snore. When she reached the library, she waved to the librarian hazily and immediately headed towards the couches of the library. As she passed some desks, Grace thought she recognized someone sitting there. In fact, they looked strangely familiar. She would’ve gone up to them and said hi, but right now, all she wanted to do was sleep. Grace grabbed a random book off the shelf. The book bared the title Muggle History and its Connections to Ancient Runes. Grace chuckled lightly as she dropped onto the couch. Now wasn’t that ironic? She flipped open to a random page in the book, pulling it close to her face as her eyes began to droop at the writing. She probably looked very odd now; her head bobbing up and down as she tried to stay awake. Grace propped up her arm on the arm of the chair, resting her head as her eyes closed. What she was doing now was very unlike the true Grace, who never fell asleep during school hours or in a library. She absolutely loved books, and was a good little student, but logic would not function in her. Sleep deprivation did things to this girl; very, very odd things.

He had released her body from his grasp, the tile was what was holding his interest now. His finger twisted where his ring was softly, waiting for something, anything so he could move on. He half expected her to kick him, or kick him out at least, some more screaming. The rational half of him knew that wasn't going to happen. She wouldn't be able to turn him away, he knew that she was attracted to him, that much was obvious. He knew that she enjoyed his company, otherwise she wouldn't have come to get him, there was no doubt in his mind about that. What he was unsure of was weather she was just attempting to figure him out, a puzzle that she wanted to solve so that she could move on to bigger, more complex puzzles, if she was in the habit of, collecting men so to speak. Ashton was not good at relationships. He didn't know how to be faithful, he didn't know how to show affection on a regular basis. He was difficult and hot headed. He didn't lie, and he did know how to show a girl a good time. He did know how to feel and to love, he was capable of emotion. He was a slave to his ego and his pride. He had lustful tendencies that he couldn't control, if his outlet of choice wasn't around, he would find one. He didn't like to hold hands, he wasn't much of one for walking arm in arm, unless the proper audience was around. He never got dressed up unless forced, he didn't offer to take people out on dates. He suffered from extreme mood swings, Ashton was the kind of man that you really had to know him, and just know what he was thinking in order to please him. He didn't talk much, whenever he did it was usually out of anger, he was incapable of showing emotions, unless it was in the most extreme sense. He was the worlds worst boyfriend. But he did love, and he did love unconditionally.

She had wanted to reject him, he had felt it in her kiss, but his stubborn want to be right was overpowering as he had held her close in his arms. Now, he had no idea what was going to come out of her mouth next, she had a temper to rival his own. They were a highly destructive match. Truth be told, Ashton loved his job, he excelled at it, he loved that he was the only one that had his job title, made him feel superior. He liked that he was in a position with say, he liked that it impressed people. Sure, he knew that he was doing good but that didn't hold as much sway for him. He liked whenever women threw themselves at him, and he liked it whenever he was respected. The fact that he found himself attractive was definitely a plus, he liked whenever he was challenged. Something that Kaydence did very well. He had loved and lost, while he couldn't imagine a scenario where he would inform her of the women that came before her, and it was unfathomable to think of a situation where he would bring up the extent of his loss that included his child. She didn't need to understand how hard it was for him to even have said that simple sentence, those five little words were his offering to her, a peep hole into the door that would lead her into his life. If she chose not to look, so be it, it would be a loss he felt that he could recover from. Time would tell. “I don’t get you,” Lifting his eyes to her face once again, a soft laugh left his lips as he nodded. That definitely wasn't the first time that somebody had told him that, nor was it the last. He was like a song that took a few listens before you really even liked it, but then it was stuck in your head for ages.

“I mean, you don’t even know me Ashton. You didn’t know where I lived until today. You don’t know where I was born or even my last name. For all you know I could be running some black-market unicorn blood scheme.” No, he didn't know her, but since when was that a requirement in order to enter into some higher level of commitment? Even if that commitment only included last names, something he felt would be easy enough to figure out of he needed to. He may not have known where she lived, but he didn't even have a home, something that until now seemed unimportant to her. She never had asked him any questions nor shown any interest in his life or well being other than the hours that passed whenever they were entangled. Today she had been fully ready to show him out, half dressed and without shoes just so as not to speak to him. He was forced to listen as she rattled off reasons that she was using to seemingly justify to herself why she should say no to him, but the word no never even left her lips, it gave him a strange feeling of pride. The unicorn-blood thing he did know for sure, he had partnered with some of the people in the mystical animal control on more than one occasion, while it was potent, and illegal, the unicorn blood market was almost non-existent. It was far fetched so he left the comment be, if he had said anything other than 'i doubt it' he might have been forced to come up with something about his job, and he hadn't lied to her yet, why start now. A smile was starting to creep across his face, until the word 'no' or 'get out' left her lips he was going to assume that she was going to give him the answer he was expecting.

As she lifted his chin, his smile didn't budge. She was trying to convey a message to him, like she felt that it would just be a mistake, he just didn't want to hear it. “I don’t know your last name. I don’t know your favorite color, where you went to school, anything like that. Why would you want to be in a…with someone you don’t even know? I mean Merlin Ashton, it’s impossible to feel strongly who just slapped you for not understanding where you’re coming from.” He did hear her purposely not mention the word 'relationship' and that was fine, he wasn't talking about a full blown courtship here, he wasn't ready to go down that path any time soon. Just something less casual. He had a habit of looking at women like they were his possessions, this was not an exception, he wanted to have the ability to possess her. Nothing less. However she saw them from that point was all on her. Grasping her wrists once more to lower them, his hold was loose. "Not impossible, just improbable" Running his finger along her pants leg, up to her waist, toying with the fabric of her shirt he leaned forward, his voice husky "You would be lying if you said that you didn't feel anything when I did this" he said above a whisper, the whole time he was talking, his lips traced a line on the exposed flesh from her shoulder to her jaw line. "Its not just lust" he urged into her ear, and pulled away until he was sitting upright. Placing his hands on the tile next to him he rose to his knees, then to his feet, holding out a hand for her to stand as well. Glancing once at her tooth brush he ran his tongue along the back of his teeth. "It's Wentworth, by the way" Helping her to her feet he placed a hand on either one of her hips. "I like red well enough, and I went to school here, at Galaxia. All seven years. " He shrugged once more, her hands were warm on his shirtless torso "You don't know because you never asked" he considered exposing the fact that she had not given him an answer yet, but didn't want to push the subject. So long as she wasn't giving him a definite answer, to him she was saying yes. No matter what wars she wanted to wage within herself. Letting his hand slide to her bottom he grasped firmly, smirking as he told himself that she was agreeing to his proposal, he would think about the consequences later.

Lilith liked the taste of blood. Coppery, tangy and warm as it slipped down her sulfur lined throat. There was nothing like the taste of blood to make someone realize how not-alive they were. Lilith like the taste of infant blood the most- innocent, and untainted like the first fruit of spring. It went down like cool cherry wine with a sweet aftertaste. There was nothing like it, but lately all there was to be found were diseased children and their diseased parents. All the ones that were clean were already tied to some filthy vampire or flea infested werewolf or some holy rolling angel and none of them liked sharing. Lilith had a few slaves of her own but she wasn't a fan of feeding on them- she had other uses for them and she needed them alive in order to do them. She had been in luck tonight though; one of her slaves was a pregnant woman nearing her due date.

The woman had begged and begged Lilith to let the child go free rather than bringing it up in this god forsaken existence. Foolish human to think of Lilith in such a way. The woman went into labor earlier that day, giving birth to a beautiful daughter named Anabel. "Let the bitch bleed out." Lilith said cruelly as another of her humans rushed to nurse the mother. Lilith snatched the newborn from the young mother's arms and drained it of its blood, sighing happily and licking wasted drops from her swollen lips. Slowly, the wailing of the mother in the other woman died down as she bled to death on the makeshift operating room in Lilith's house.

Once sated, Lilith left the house and took to the streets of San Francisco. Lilith had business to do besides eating children- she had numerous demons that she had employed to her who were in charge of catching people for her and signing deals with people who wanted things like money and fame. They gave Lilith their souls – which she ate – in exchange and in one years ‘time, they would be shipped off to hell. It wasn’t an easy job to do, but someone had to do it. Lilith thought it petty to be in such close contact with humans, hence why she had lesser demons do it for her. There were the cases that Lilith wanted to take herself because they seemed particularly interesting such as the one she was planning on taking tonight.

Through the grapevine she heard that a hunter named Caine was looking to meet with a demon and the moment she heard that, Lilith grabbed at the chance. It had been months since she had heard from or seen the human and she was quite looking forward to the moment when she would see him again. She wouldn’t say that she missed him necessarily, but she missed the certain amount of “company” that he provided her with even if it had been unwilling at first. He had come to her for the cure and Lilith gave it to him- he had been indebted to her for three years after that until the roach snuck out of her mansion when she wasn’t looking. Since then, Lilith had made it her personal mission to find him. And now the opportunity had literally fallen into her life.

Lilith paid a ferryman to take her to Alcatraz Island; apparently Caine was supposed to be “meeting” an unnamed demon, no doubt to try and trap them in some sort of makeshift devils trap and circles of salt. When the sailor reached the Island he asked Lilith what she was doing in such a place, to which she smiled and said she was hunting. Hunting what? the man asked her, curiosity getting the better of him. Lilith laughed and twisted her fingers in the air, snapping the man’s neck and killing him as she climbed onto the rocky shore of the Island, the ferry sinking in to the Bay behind her. By the time she made it up the hill, the sun had sunk behind the mountains, leaving the prison in the moonlight. Even better, Lilith though, smirk forming across her lips and she moved through the rusty doors of Alcatraz prison. Caine was already there- she could smell the blood on him, and he was angry, and Lilith could also smell fear on him.

She moved slowly through the prison, listening to him move around the cellblocks, and she almost wanted to laugh. Oh, poor Caine didn’t know that he was put himself in the middle of a trap. He had set himself up as bate, and now he wouldn’t be able to get out and his little slayers friends wouldn’t be able to help him. Lilith turned a corner and say him, seeing him leaned against a cell door in front of her. She smiled a bit as he cursed, blue eyes narrowing as she moved towards him like a predator moving on prey. ”Tsk tsk, Caine.” she spoke up, shaking her head a bit, blonde hair shining in the moonlight. ”Is that really how you should talk to your master after you so rudely walked out on her? I should gut you for that, my pet.” Lilith said, her voice soft as she spoke words of venom. ”You are lucky that I like you- any other demon would have ripped you from your hiding spot, slaughtered you and scattered your pieces around San Francisco.” Lilith wouldn’t kill him- she would do worse.

The air was thick with tension; black cloaked figures seated round the circular table silent, every breath merely an intake of oxygen, a means to survive. The table was of a dark mahogany, the place settings elaborate in their silk and finery. Gold centerpieces littered the middle, the ornately decorated silverware placed just precisely so. The walls were lined with riches as well, jewel encrusted picture frames with haughty portraits inside of them, all curiously silent, still. Heavy drapery accented the doorframes and walls, fleur-de-lis wall paper full of crimson reds and blacks. The room was rich in itself, though a dark sort of shadow presided over all of this. It wasn’t as if there weren’t torches shining along the walls, or candles lit on the table, their heavy fragrance wafting through the still air. No, all of these were present. It was an ominous sort of shadow, heavy in its very essence.  None spoke, none fidgeted, none dared to dart their eyes towards the others sitting with them. It was just as the Dark Lord had left it in the ten minutes since he departed the place. In all there sat four of his followers, all with their hoods down upon their necks, cloaks still drawn at their throats as if to evade some cold draft. They ranged in age, all at least above twenty, the oldest looking to be fifty something, his hooked nose and various wrinkles lending to his crooked back. Besides that his blue eyes were cold, staring down at the gold plate before him with a vacant look. Out of the four two looked as if they were accustomed to a rich life, resplendent in its care. The old man looked easily as if he’d been pulled in off the dirtiest street. The only other in the room could be anywhere between the two, his long black hair drawn back into a pony-tail at the nape of his neck. They’d all been called here tonight for the same reason, all listened to the same instructions given to them by their master. The two richer of the four looked faintly sick, fear obvious in their gaze. One had long blonde hair falling in waves around his pale, pinched face, his long fingers twisting nervously over one another as his eyes darted around anywhere other than the other figures in the room. The other, the owner of the home, had red short-cropped hair and bright green eyes, his pupils mere dots in their depths as he stared woodenly at the wand clasped in his grasp. The man who called himself Aleksander was none of these things. It wasn’t the first time that the Dark Lord had given them orders that seemed a bit … unorthodox, even for him. Continuing to be surprised each time they were delivered was ridiculous as a whole. His pale lips were devoid of any lipstick this night, his eyes thoughtful as he stared at his forearm, the black mark twisting delicately amongst the other ink placed there. Nothing short of beauty. One eye was a muddy brown tonight, the other’s iris seeming a somewhat shocking electric blue with only a slit for a pupil. He’d come garbed simply in well-cut black jeans and a black thermal shirt under his cloak. His usually adorned face was somewhat lacking, eyeliner drawn precisely on his lids, eyeshadow varying from a light white-ish powder to a dark gray. One ear boasted a curved fang for an earring, the point seeming as if it could push into the side of his neck at any moment. He was more than eccentric in appearance, more than odd in personality. Many, even among the followers, thought him mad. And he was. Completely. There was no denying that.

It was one of the things to be valued about him. His madness was his saving grace here. His knuckles flexed reflexively as he brought his eyes up from their study and turned them to look at his companions, expression barely flickering as his eyes ran over each one in turn. Pretty little faces, they’d all soon be dead if the Dark Lord’s plan didn’t go as it should. Dead or worse. He felt a chuckle rising up in his chest, the dark meaning behind it making him almost want to giggle. A dementor’s kiss might be welcome at the end of what they planned. Might be enjoyed. He could enjoy it at least. Could the men before him? Talamares was much too accustomed to the life he led, it was obvious in the soft skin clothing his hands, the loose set of his shoulders. Dragohr? This house he owned, the name he bore, all of it was too much for him to even consider giving up. Neely might be different. He was old, already careworn. Many amongst them whispered what it was that the Great Lord could have use of him for. Those that allotted such whispers had obviously never seen him when confronted. A twisted smile crept upon Aleksander’s pale lips, his right eye twitching slightly. No, he didn’t think they’d be able to handle death. But he’d sure like to be there when theirs was delivered. Behind the wand, the knife, the fire. Behind the camera lens as he recorded it all. Brutal and unfeeling. He could smell the scorched skin now, the smoke and sweet smell of corruption hanging in the air. Feel the resistance of the skin as his blade pushed into the pulsing flesh, cut through the throbbing veins of blood. Dragohr looked up startled as if he could feel the eyes on him, flinching back slightly as he caught the other man’s gaze. Not too noticeably, even he had enough control to contain his expression. It was a slight widening of the eyes, a twitch of the lips. He wondered what those lips would taste like in death. As rich as the food he partook in? Or as slimy as the personality beneath the exterior? “You aren’t going to offer us refreshments Dragohr?” His voice was surprisingly soft given the manner of his dress and tattoos. There was a faint mocking edge behind it, a smooth tenor without much presumption. Refreshments. They were here for ‘dinner’ after all. Even if it were no more than a pretense. Dragohr’s green eyes flashed as if he’d been stung, his lips drawing into a thin line even as the other’s looked up from their own perusals, gazes still distant, as if just being awoken. “Of course Nott. I was just contemplating what it was we… that is to say…” He looked slightly flustered as he raised his hand, snapping as a house-elf materialized into the room. It too was clad in a finery to match the décor, hair brushed and parted in just the ‘right’ manner. Aleksander turned his gaze away from the two as the other began issuing orders in a lowered voice. For all he knew Dragohr could be ordering poison put in his food. What a delightful surprise that would be.

“Do you think he meant it?” Talamares voice cut across his musings, his eyes darting between Neely and Aleksander, pale fingers twisting over one another with nervous energy. “Who?” Aleksander’s own voice was amused, his lips tilting up in a demented smile as he brought his elbows to the table, steepling his fingers under his chin with a quiet certainty. “…The Dark Lord… you don’t think he actually meant for us to…” Neely looked affronted as his gaze rested on Talamares, his heavy gray brows drawn down as if he’d just insulted his mother. “Oh, I quite think he did. I’m rather hoping he did actually.” Neely didn’t respond, merely grunted as the house-elf left the room, Dragohr coming back into the conversation without speaking at all. Talamares looked, if possible, even more nervous than before, his pale pink tongue darting out to wet his lips. “But…” Aleksander laughed, the sound more than slightly off-putting though judging by the other’s expressions it was nothing they hadn’t heard before. There was little real amusement in the gesture. Though you wouldn’t be able to place it as fake, or forced in any manner. It was just … off. Much like the rest of him. “But nothing. There’s no use questioning it. You just better hope that His plan goes off without much trouble, otherwise…” Another quick laugh as the others began to look slightly uncomfortable. You didn’t question Him. You didn’t question his planning. It wasn’t done. It wasn’t the first time Aleksander Nott had dared to venture such thoughts aloud though. He rather thought that it was why Voldemort kept him around. At least one of the reasons. He had no hidden pretenses, no belayed ambitions. He just wanted the kill. He just wanted what it was that only the Dark Lord’s reign would offer him. He held no real love for his master, for anyone. It could be one, maybe the only thing that he shared in common with his Lord. Or maybe Voldemort did hold love for someone, certainly none of his followers. Love wasn’t throwing the one’s you loved into dangerous circumstances, uncaring whether they came out alive or not. Just as suddenly as his mirthful expression had flitted on his face it slid off, a frown pinching at his lips. No, love was nothing like that. It was why men like him weren’t allowed to love. There were reasons for everything. His black brows were drawn down upon his sockets, eyes mere slits through his lids as he glared at the golden plate before him. Good for nothing. Lost. Blood. Broken. Snapping. Biting. Hurting. Crunching.

The house-elf reentered, another two almost identical in tow, platters held aloft above their heads. With little noise they dispersed the food amongst the four men before departing again. Steak, red wine, some rice concoction, and an assortment of vegetables. With little thought Aleksander’s expression cleared again, picking up his fork and shoving his vegetables unceremoniously off the plate and onto the table cloth. It seemed the others had begun speaking again during his momentary lapse. Where [b]had[/b] his mind gone in the first place? Not that it mattered. The steak before him was pink through, blood congealing beneath it in a pretty crimson color bright enough to match his drink. None of the others had it that rare, not that he noticed. Obviously they were used to the sort of food he preferred. They didn’t even pay him mind as he let his fork clutter to the table again before running his fingers along the edge of the steak and atop it, collecting the congealing blood onto his fingertip with an enraptured expression. It was so pretty, so colorful. So alive still. If he focused hard enough he could still feel the pulse of the animal within the meat. Not really, not even that he’d try, but he could imagine it, and for now that was enough. He brought his finger to his lips greedily, sucking the substance off of it with an expression of pure lust upon his features, eyes rolling back slightly in his head as he licked the last drop from under his nail. It was a shame that Dragohr had his meat store bought, pre-packaged. Too much of the blood got lost in the process, not like on Aleksander’s estate. No, he had his own cattle there, fresh for the butchering. He set about tearing his steak up within his fingers, shoving it into his mouth without a rush as he let his mind pick back out where the conversation had traveled. Neely was discussing the plans for the night, his blue eyes seeming younger than they had before as he tried to convince the other two that the younger girl, the child of the couple they were to take care of would prove no problem. It wasn’t as if she were a child. She was nineteen. And a [i]mudblood[/i] to boot. Why were they getting skirmish over such things? “I’ll take her.” Aleksander grinned as he looked up at the trio before him, the effect disconcerting. There was still blood fresh around his lips, pieces of meat stuck between his teeth as he exposed his red-stained teeth. Even Neely looked slightly uncomfortable at the idea of Aleksander taking care of the girl. Surely she was still too young to go through that sort of treatment. He treated his kills much like he did his food, there was no point in it at all if he were to hasten the enjoyment. “But I get the father too. The muggle. He’s mine.” He didn’t give the others time to argue as he went back to attacking his steak, once more tuning them out. Their glances collided over his head before Neely shrugged. As long as he didn’t have to watch what it was the boy had in mind he had no objections obviously.

Not that Aleksander would care if he did. The muggle would pay for his blood. With his blood. In his blood. A giggle escaped his lips around a chunk of meat, his fingers tearing more savagely into the steak.

It was always more fun when you had a family member to make it more entertaining too. And the girl would work nicely.

Look over. C'mon, look over dammit. Three full seconds and she didn't look. Ludo's eyes had been trying to catch hers all night. He only ever glanced a second maybe two, and now he'd just risked three, but still their eyes had not locked. He was just missing her gaze, he was sure of it. She had to be looking at him. Marlene wouldn't just ignore him. So what if their last talk was a little...rough, she couldn't have been serious about being done with him could she? Ludo wiped the thoughts from is mind as he gaze shifted first to the two glasses of pink punch he had poured and then to the girl who deserved every ounce of his attention tonight. He handed Khai her glass, knocking his into it a short cheers, before he sipped, turning his back to Marlene and the idiot she was parading around as her boyfriend.

The night had gone well, despite the recent invasion of his mind. His girlfriend looked amazing and as Ludo took in her figure in the dress she had chosen, Marlene was the last thing on his mind. God, she really was too good for him, too beautiful, too fucking perfect. Her light brown skin tone, sparkling hazel eyes and short black hair, Khai was nothing short of a vision, and she was his. And he'd dared have the audacity to even glance at someone else, so long as he could call the scorching hot beauty before him, his own? It was too bad this had been his cycle all night. A glance to Marlene followed by a wave of regret for the action when his eyes found their way back to his actual date. It was still a little stunning that Khai had actually gone and apologized to Marlene. Apologized for his foul deed in which Khai was merely his unwitting accomplice. Yes, she did play her role, but she was seduced by Ludo not the other way around...though just looking the way she did was a fair bit of seduction.

Ludo thought seriously about asking Khai to come back to the commonroom with him. It wasn't as though he really cared to socialize with anyone, he'd already said his hello's and had a brief bit of small talk with Drake and Annie, he'd shaken hands and smiled with all those who approached him and now the dance was holding no real appeal. The music wasn't bad, it was just difficult to hear over the roar of hundreds of separate conversations. He was tired of sneaking glances at his ex. He wanted them to be friends, but maybe it was best they weren't. He had just been craving that brief instance of eye contact, that one glimpse into those eyes he couldn't keep his hands from scribbling on the pages of his notes. He just needed to see the expression that would reflect in them when when they locked on to his blue ones, he needed to know she didn't really believe it was over. Or if it really was then he needed to see that too.

But he was tired of the game. Turning when he thought her eyes were watching only to see them watching James instead, the git. Ludo had Khai now, and she was more than he deserved, but she was everything he needed. Now, with the way she was looking in that dress he was deciding he just needed her. The dance was just a tease at this point.. Ludo took another long sip of punch to cool down himself down from the thoughts Khai had been putting in his head. Just five more minutes and he'd ask to leave. Finish the punch, just one more slow dance and they could leave. It was a perfect plan. And only one thing, one person could ruin it. But the odds of that were so low not even the most desperate gambler would put money on it.

For some reason, Chase was in the best mood that he could recall. It was still the bitter, drag cold outside, but at least the sun was out. He could peg his good mood up to the fact that he'd finally had a day off of work, he'd actually been able to get through not just breakfast, but lunch too, uniterrupted. A satisfied Chase, was a happy Chase. Yet, he didn't feel like lounging around in his small apartment by his onesome. As much as he would have liked to, he didn't have any reason to go and see Ripley again, she was likely to be busy with work anyway as her job was more 'demanding' or whatever than his was. Personally he hated whenever Aurors got such huge egos that they regarded themselves in a higher light than all the other departments in the ministry. Thankfully, Ripley hadn't yet gotten an Ego like that.

He needed to get out, go somewhere. Pulling a shirt over his half naked frame. It wasn't much, just a little grey thing with some silly muggle logo across the front. Changing from sweat pants, into dark blue jeans he tugged his black coat over his shirt and arms, making sure to place his gloves over his hand. Last time he'd gone out in this weather without gloves, he'd sorely regretted it, and that time he'd had a destination. Walking out into the hall, pausing to lock the door behind him. It probably wasn't smart to live in the middle of a muggle apartment complex, but he liked the constant chatter that was always buzzing about the place, the way they bustled about so, like every day was their worst, and last day of their lives. In his experiance, muggles tended to make little problems into the apocopylse. Nodding once to the building manager, he'd overheard them talking one time. Apparently, he was quiet the tennant, picked up after himself, never
had rent late. Although, he had magic to help him...and the ministry paid for his small apartment, he didn't think that he would know the first thing about going about converting his money into muggle money

Placing his gloved fingers into his hands, his neck pressed against his 'popped' collar to fight the cold. The sun and the cool breeze were causing quiet the odd sensation on his face. It wasn't alltogether unpleasent. Deciding to just go for a walk, he started to pass houses and small business's in the like. His apartment building was made to look up like a huge mansion, it probably had been once upon a time, perhaps he was now living in what used to be the maids quarters, he didn't know. There were quiet a few little mom and pop kind of joints, and had he any money...he would have very much liked to of gone in. The couple who seemed to be operating the joint were fighting, much like Remus and Tonks used to do. Now, he didn't know the couple very well on a personal level but he had seen them around the ministry every now and then, Tonks more so than Remus...but their daughter he did know. Of course, it had been many many years since he had seen
little Cassandra, she was probably all grown up by now. Calculating quickly in his head, he figured she would be twenty or so. He'd gotten an invitation to her Graduation, but due to work had been forced to miss it. he hadn't seen her since the year after his gradutation, whenever Remus and Tonks had brought her to his promotion ceremony. Since then, it was just an occasional letter here and there.

He should go see her, it wasn't to far, ducking into the back lot used for garbage, he closed his eyes and envisioned the building known as The Lupin Household and with a tug behind his navel, he found himself just outside of the grounds. He'd only been inside once or twice over the holidays and only once whenever Cassie had been there. Pressing his lips together, as it was more snow covered here than it was back at his place. Tracking up the snow covered walkway he began searching for her. What was he going to say to her? 'oh, sorry I missed your graduation...and there was a couple fighting...so here I am?' or maybe even 'hey, sorry I havn't returned many of your letters but' no, he didn't have a good reason for being here. But, due to his spontanious nature he was here anyway. Standing in front of the magnificent door he raised a hand to knock, but thought better of it. "Cassie!" he called out, his voice was loud and would do better than his
knocking would and he didn't much like door bells. Takinga step backward, he cupped his hands over his mouth, in hopes to make his voice louder...but movement caught in the corner of his eye stopped him from bellowing.

Stepping away from the door, he moved around to an impossibly large tree...with a tire tied from one of it's branchs, how cliche. Smiling, there she was little Cassie Lupin. Standing in her line of vision he stuck his hands back inside his pockets and smiled. "been awhile kid"

"P-perfectly alright" Well if this was any more awkward Ripley was sure if she had been in school and with the team, with them finding out she'd never live it down. Months from now she would probably tell her friends and they'd life and make fun of her. His arms wrapped around her she felt her heart race and stomach clutch. Her brain would've shut down if she hadn't her wits about her.

She needed to get lanterns and start fires...oh, but this was a fire...No! If she hadn't been in his arms, on his lap or in such a giddy mood she'd have smacked herself upside the head. He pulled her closer and with butterflies fluttering in her stomach she slid her arms around his neck. "Want that apology now?" She asked playfully. Ripley cocked her head like a bird, watching his nervous smile. She was starting to love it. "Ya know right about now I'm beginning to like this how apologizing thing."

Ripley smiled at him in the dark at his humor. "You planned this didn't you?" Her soft laugh filled the quiet kitchen and ended as soon as the wind howled and hail pinged against the glass windows."it's all part of your plan to seduce me" She grinned at him and raised an eyebrow. "You're right, Chase, I can control the weather and everything." It was the first time she had used his name, she'd known his name of course. He was the big guy all the other men envied and all the women watched.

She never did such things, but now she could safely say she had. She sighed softly. "We should probably move to the den--I mean to you know start a fire and get a fire going..." Her words started getting muddled, her brain stopping it's function. This close to him, with her heart racing.

Back in Hogwarts she would've never been bold enough to do things like this, or any of the things her life was holding now. She needed to move as he arms loosened, but she didn't want to move. "Tell me if I get too heavy." She warned him softly. "I--,uh I'm not ready to move quite yet." The pain in her knee had dulled to a soft throb. Jerry Lee whined from his bed, as if telling her to back out before it's too late.

How was she supposed to say, 'I love sittin' on your lap and wish it would never end, but my dogs getting cold.' You kidding? Her relationship her third year the asshole Ravenclaw had cheated on her with a Slytherin, and they hadn't even been to first base. And the one night stand when she was drunk, that wasn't much and she knew then she was doomed with men.

"You're gonna need to stay the night...if you don't wanna risk your life." Ripley smiled at him, finally pulling away, she had enjoyed the warmth and stood. As she moved toward the fireplace to stoke it, she let her hand run over his shoulder. A silent singal that she was there if he needed her for anything. Talking, cuddling. Lord, knows she wasn't doing a one night stand so that was most certainly out of the question, that last thing she wanted to be was a whore. She threw three good sized logs on the fire and the room slowly grew brighter. "Wanna come with me to find a light?" She asked Chase walking towards the dark hallway. Her wand was with her, but she yet again preferred not to rely on it.;

Rachel touched the stem of the amaryllis flower delicately, selecting the most superficial one and placing it in a narrow, black vase. Her neighbors had so generously donated a bundle of tree branches as a sort-of wedding gift to her and Adam. Rachel sprawled them out on the floor beneath her. She selected two short branches and one spindle-like one to accompany it. The short ones had to be shaped to a sharp point, so Rachel used the carving knife from the garage to scrape off the excess wood.
They lived in a very beautiful house. Rachel admired the Greek inspired framework on the ceilings. Their furniture mirrored that of old Asian and Greek style, and she felt calm in any room she’d wander into. Except her bedroom. Adam agreed to decorate the house “according to Rachel’s chi” but he refused to sleep in “that kind of Zen yogi crap.”
Rachel couldn’t say that she didn’t love her husband. There were moments when she did feel love for him. There were times when he would just watch her, hand tucked under the kitchen table and elbow propped up to support her chin. He’d admire her, almost worship her with his gaze as he watched her set the table, excitedly explain what they were having that night. He rarely said “I love you” but there were these smiles, these gazes, at dinner time, just as they began to make love, when they shared dessert at The Cheesecake factory that she saw that she loved him, his lips, his eyelashes, his teeth, his irises. She never knew a man as intimately as she did Adam.
Their bedroom, in rival to the rest of the home, sported modern, sleek furniture. There were no ornaments on the ceiling or soft shapes in the furniture. Everything was very square, very precise, and very gray. Though they had art pieces scattered on the walls, they too were modern and far from uplifting. The room needed flowers.
Luckily, the collection of flowers Rachel received was extensive. She had sierra snapdragons, irises, carnations and chrysanthemums, ferns and thistles. The music roared in the countryside. It could be heard far away from the concert hall, and the lights shone brilliantly, dazzling as far as the eye could see. Whoever set up the rave knew what they were doing, and Lawrence was going to take full advantage. As Lawrence grew closer and closer to the music, he took more and more swigs of his bottle of brandy. Nothing like it in the world. The burn felt good, but the disappointment settled each time the burn faded down his esophagus. Nevertheless, He could feel his body getting warmer. As he walked and drank, he thought about the conversation he had with Georgia earlier that day. It was so different from what the dynamic they used to share. Now, things were boring. They talked about work. The government. The old days. Work. Work. The present times. Work.

The music pumped louder as the concert hall grew closer. It wouldn’t be too long before Lawrence could find himself immersed directly in the thrill of the night and forget about everything else for the moment; it was all he really wanted. Lawrence smirked. He coughed and began talking – or more like slurring loudly – to himself: “It’s been so damn long since I’ve done something fun. Something thrilling like this. It’s been so long that I’ve had any f*cking fun. I need to get out more. Do more. I need to do more things with my life. Life is short.” A girl in a short skirt passed by him and threw him a weird look. He laughed, and slurred louder: “My f*ckin’ job. My boss never lets me take off one damn day of work. I can’t even get another job.” The girl turned back towards him, increasing her walking speed. Lawrence scoffed; she was running like he was some kind of threat towards her. “Hey chickie!” he croaked, “Whatcha running so fast for? Concert’s not even halfway done yet!”
