even the best fall down sometimes.
She liked the way that she and Gavin so easily slipped into the role of partners-in-crime this evening. Not once had they missed a beat; everything they said and did was so natural and fluid that it was almost impossible, and Sura was practically thriving on it. It had been some time now since she'd had this much fun on a date, and she very much doubted that Gavin was going to disappoint her at any point that evening. The way that his face lit up in the most diabolical way when she patted his leg and pointed out her desired target told her that much for certain. She also particularly enjoyed the way that the smirk that slid so easily across his features caused her to lose her breath in the best possible way.
As they made their way onto the dance floor, Sura was sure that her face lit up when Gavin smiled and twirled her around. “Since you asked so kindly...I suppose. It is a dance after all.” Her eyes closed as she smiled, pressing her cheek lightly against his face, tilting just so her lips grazed his ear. "You absolutely spoil me, Gavin Dewhurst. I adore it." Truly, no one had ever treated her like this on a date before. Gavin was pulling out all the stops, and he was treating her like an incredible lady, something that was lost on the vast majority of boys their age these days. You didn't need to be of high station to do any of these things, to know how to treat a lady when you took her out, and yet such things seemed to happen so very rarely. She planned on relishing every single moment of this night, because Gavin was treating her like she was an absolute, genuine article princess. And it was wonderful.
The heat of Gavin's body against her bare skin when he pulled her close could have made her purr if he hadn't given her warning. “You have one shot left. Should be an incredible parting gift I think... Perhaps one of the professors?” A wicked smile flashed across her features. Prefects or not, enchanting a professor would be the absolute perfect end to their night before they made their escape. "Oh, I dare say that I agree, Gavin," she breathed, her eyes flashing with mischief as she looked up into Gavin's face, her hands coming to rest on his shoulders. She glanced around, nodding her head towards a group of Professors. "How about Professor Talbott? Fitting, considering it was his class that we first got to torment each other in." Sura couldn't help but grin at the thought, the laughter that followed equally uncontrollable. "Oh Merlin, Gavin, now you have to. I simply won't be happy if you don't."
The feeling hit her more suddenly than she was prepared for. That foggy, dizzy, breathless feeling that she had gone so long without. Her breath came in a single, sharp intake as the room began to darken, and she knew that it would be written on her face. Oh gods not here, not now... she thought frantically, her fingers pressing into Gavin's shoulders, as if she would be able to keep herself standing if her feet went out beneath her. It was not a matter of whether or not Gavin would catch her -- he undoubtably would -- but more about the fact that she was not okay with the idea of her night ending because of some stupid dizzy spell that often came with the strangest of pictures. And just like that, the world slid sharply back into focus, not a moment too soon. She took a deep breath, and blinked, steadying herself, as her fingers absently rose to the back of Gavin's neck to stroke it absently. When she was sure that the moment had passed, she looked up at Gavin, a small smile on her lips as she shook her head. "I'm sorry, I just got so dizzy for a second. I must have laced this stupid corset too tightly tonight." Her smile widened, scratching the back of his neck lightly. "I'm good now though, feeling right as rain, promise."
i somehow find you and i collide.
