Merlin what a fool she was. Lani would be lying if she said that she hadn't thought about this moment many times before now. Only, every scenario that she had pictured involved far less embarrassing things from her end. But of course, per her luck she was bound to-muck something up horribly. The man in front of her wasn't anything like what she had imagined. He was better, more. Through his letters, she had envisioned him to be one thing, luckily she wasn't disappointed. It was as if she was frozen to the spot. How. Embarrassing. For all the time that she put into her letters, wording them as best that she could. Now, she must seem like an idiot. "would you like help with that?"
Oh, his voice. She had spent hours and hours attempting to imagine what his voice sounded like. Pretending like she was one of those girls in a movie that she could have the letter read aloud inside her head by his very own voice. She found herself leaning toward him, only slightly as if egging him to keep speaking. Closing her mouth and attempting to compose herself, no more words came out. Her hand drifted absent minded to her hair, twirling a blond curl around her finger. As he moved closer to her, her breathing became erratic. Sure, she had spent years exchanging letters with the man in front of her, but never did she think he would be standing in front of her like this. It had started out as such a dull day and was now proving to be anything but. Leaning her head back to look up at him, a smile finally gracing her features. Without another word he stooped over to take care of her mess. For the moment that she wasn't entranced, she took the moment to better herself. Raking her fingers through her hair, and smoothing her sparse lipgloss over her lips. Yanking on the straps of her red dress till they sat properly, and smoothed down her dress in a matter of seconds. Whenever he stood again she found the same fluster in her stomach. That picture didn't do him justice.
"where do you want these?" smiling she nodded toward a shelf just past him where other boxes just like it stood. She had only been at this job a few months and she already knew all the ins and outs of this place. Taking the top box off of the stack he was holding to make it look like she was helping, she placed it on the shelf where she had directed him. Taking the boxes two at a time and putting them down on the shelves until that where all gone, and all that was left was his arms. With difficulty, she kept her hands to herself as she brought her gaze to his. There was so much that she wanted to say to him, questions she had yet to ask. Yet all that she managed to say was "thank you"
