Personality and Traits:
Regulus is arrogant and intelligent a combination that has gifted him with a quick wit and a sharp tongue. He can effortlessly twist this wit into charm with an arsenal of sly half-smiles, and deep green eyes. Not content to just believe he is better than everyone, Regulus feels a constant need to prove his worth to those around him. This fatal flaw has it's advantages however, giving Reg his drive to earn top marks in class and win at all costs on the quidditch pitch. In matters of the heart, Regulus can be slow to trust and has taken a quantity over quality approach to relationships. A quick drill down into his commitment issues would reveal that Regulus believes himself too broken to be capable of a loving relationship considering he was never given a strong example. Deeper than that though is just the base fear of rejection that makes it easier to keep everyone at an arm's length. Reg understands just enough about what makes people tick that he thinks he knows everything. This delusion is also best maintained by keeping people at a safe distance, less increased intimacy starts to poke holes in his well-developed theories for how the world works.

Important History?
Regulus Reinbach was born the second son to Pollux and Ursae Reinbach, the purest remaining branch of an ancient and quickly decaying family tree. An ostensibly arranged marriage, Regulus' parents behaved more like business partners than spouses and accordingly treated their son's more like assets than children. Regulus quickly learned that the best way to appreciate his value was to be an obedient, out of the way, child. Reg's brother Antares, however, seemed desperate to sink his stock and force his parents to cut their losses (it would be 17 years before their parents finally realized the market on their eldest son was not going to turn around.)
Despite their differences, Regulus and his brother were actually nearly inseparable growing up. They fought, of course, but not in ways so far out of the ordinary for any pair of siblings, or so they assumed. Antares was firmly against their parents' insistence on inflating the value of blood status and Regulus had to admit, his brother made some good points. Knowing there was no point in arguing the substance of the argument (since neither his brother nor their parents had any intention of changing their opinion regardless of what facts were presented) Reg took to imploring his brother to simply pretend he was buying in, or at least, say nothing to make things worse. Of course, Antares would always retort that there was nothing worse than staying silent and make Regulus feel like a coward for even suggesting it.
As the boys grew older it became more and more obvious that their paths were destined to diverge. His brother being sorted into Hufflepuff was the beginning of the end. Looking back, it seems obvious, but at the time it was unthinkable that Regulus would not at least be friendly towards his brother. But his new house brought new friends who fed his rebellious ideas. Antares fought harder against his family's ideals, as though he was determined to get a full year's worth of rebellion into the Christmas and summer holidays. That was until he stopped coming home at all. In front of their parents, Regulus doubled down on being the good son. If his parents couldn't give him their attention perhaps he could at least coax out a bit of pride in his sterling example.
Constantly at odds with his brother and always afraid to upset his parents, Regulus' lone respite in the family home came from the family's house-elf, Vulkan. The elf had been tasked with most of the menial child-rearing his parents couldn't be bothered with. Regulus considers the elf a close friend and the closest thing he has to a real parent. The trouble, of course, is that they aren't really friends. Even if there is mutual respect and affection, Regulus is Vulkan's master and while he tries to be conscious and considerate of this fact it only serves to make him wonder if the elf is even capable of genuinely liking Reg when his choice in the matter is so limited.
