»» wand: Blackthorn, unicorn hair 12.5"

»» hair color: Dark Blond, almost brown
»» height: 6'1
»» build: Lean, but with a fair amount of muscle mass.
»» distinguishing features: The light spattering of freckles on his face, large disfigured nose, his height and gruff voice.
»» face-claim: Liam Hemsworth
»» mirror, mirror: The face that stares back at Gavin is one he is proud of. He sees a champion. Nothing to turn up a nose at, in fact he doesn't see a single flaw anywhere on his entire body. He wanders the very fine line between confidence and downright arrogant, depending on the day. Whenever most people think of 'jock' the profile that is summoned in the mind's eye is exactly the sort of thing to be found on Gavin's face. His jawline his sharp, and his brow bone prominent. He had a spattering of freckles that show on his face if he's spent too much time in the sun but those are among his many favorite features of himself. His hair is short and requires very little maintenance on his part. Due to the fact that it's very thick, his body hair can be course and his facial hair can stab if he doesn't shave each and every day. The hair on his head stands up in whichever direction it pleases, luckily it tends to be the same direction that pleases Gavin as well. He sees a man that anybody would adore, and respect
If he were forced to pick a flaw, or something he considered sub-standard he would choose his nose. He had broken it as a child during one of his families rugby matches, and ever since then, there is a very small (but prominent to him) ridge whenever he is viewed from a profile standpoint. His eyebrows might need a trim every now and then, but he thinks that it's an outward symbol of how burly he is. He's worked hard to perfect his masculine image, making his shoulders as broad as possible. He likes the physical attention that he gets because of his hard work and dedication to himself. He cannot stand to be dirty, or to have wrinkles in his clothing. With Gavin, it's all about the layers. He doesn't like to wear just the one outfit, because his temperature fluctuates so much. He doesn't want to be stuck in a sweatshirt whenever he could have removed it for a shirt underneath, or have just a jacket whenever really he needed two. It's a rare occurrence indeed whenever he is caught in just one layer. He likes to wear his slacks, shirt and dress it up just a tad. Will never wear just a jacket, but rather a jumper and a coat over top of it. Inside of school is no different. He will wear his tie, sweater and shirt rather than just the sweater. He likes to spend money on his attire because he has found that not only does it elevate the instant respect level, but also the fabric is better made and comfortable. Gavin will spend extra time in the bathroom before leaving the house so that he doesn't have to go back and check on his appearance later throughout the day. It saves the world from knowing how paranoid about his looks faltering. He wears his a ring that bears his family crest on his left ring finger, but that will be the only form of jewelry placed upon his person at any given time. It will stay there until he finds the woman that he is intended to marry. It never leaves his finger.
»» likes:
- Quidditch - Like most children that grew up with magical parents, he was handed his very first broom shortly after he was able to walk. He grew up watching and playing the sport with his brother. Their father took them to as many matches as possible during their youth and to this day. He developed a love of flying first, and the game second but they have always gone hand in hand for him. He loves the rush, the thrill that he got from playing so high above ground.
- Rugby - Despite the accident that he had as a child, this is the sport that reminds him most of family. Any gathering that has enough relatives in attendance, they play the game. All reunions and every holiday.
- Running in the rain - He's always been a runner, he has to be to keep up with the sports that he loves doing it in the rain is poetic to him. Not only does the cold keep him cool, but it makes his lungs work just that much harder. It's the challenge. Any time that it's raining, you can bet that you are going to find Gavin outside in his shorts and trainers.
- Writing - This is a closely guarded secret of his, not even something that he has told his brother. But, he's kept a journal since he was a very young man.
- Folk Music - Another thing that he has grown to love due to how much it revolves around his family. Given the choice, he will choose something that's dripping in culture like the folk music that he likes to listen to. He can dance a jig with the best of them.
- His housemates - Well, to be fair, anybody Slytherin but those in his year that he spends the most time with are those that he likes the best.
- Traveling - During the summer, they don't spend too much time at home. Since his father is generally gone on...business...his mother will pack up the children and go to find him. On the chances that they cannot follow, she will pick somewhere else, wanting her sons to be men of the world.
- His Family - His family, extended and immediate mare the most important thing to him. he wouldn't dream of bringing somebody home to them unless he knew for a fact that the person in question was going to be in his life for good. He will do anything for them or the people that he cares about. There isn't anything that he wouldn't do to protect his bloodline.
- A smart woman - Don't get him wrong, he can find things to do with even the least intelligent of women. They all have legs and other bits don't they? But he likes a woman who can tease him back, hold his gaze and interest during a conversation. That would be his 'type' so to speak.
- The friends of his family - All of the pure-blooded elite. They don't socialize with anybody else. It wouldn't be worth the effort. They are the people that he grew up with and he knows them well. While he may disagree with some of them behind closed doors, if they were to be threatened, he would join next to them as a united front, despite his personal thoughts on the matter.
- Money - Well, it makes the world go round doesn't it? His expensive tastes have to come from somewhere. His family comes from old money, and he continues to keep those pockets just as deep as they are now whenever he comes of age.
- Challenges - Be it in sports, games, his lessons or even on a more personal level.
- Arithmacy - And Runes, since they are the most difficult to him. Despite what most people think of the rich, he's not lazy. He's not the best at them, but he enjoys them none the less.
»» dislikes:
- Being Dirty - Or having any wrinkles in his clothing for that matter. Sometimes, it's unavoidable but he can't stand it. He will never be one for that fashion statement where people wear jeans with holes in the legs. Even Tee Shirts that seem to be faded or tie-dyed in any fashion he won't go near. He likes good, solid colors and fabrics.
- 'Rap' Music - It's an abomination to his ears. It's too loud, pointless and the lyrics make little to no sense. Fortunately, it's not something seen very often in the wizarding world. At least not in the classy part. Sure, there are plenty of bands out there to listen to, but the 'Emcee's' he would just as soon hex into oblivion.
- Astrology - He doesn't believe in any sort of organized religion. That includes studying the stars in an effort to foresee the future or predict the outcome of anything. If he cannot touch it, smell it, or buy it, it's not real.
- Blood Traitors. - This includes people who disrespect his family, marry outside of their designated, acceptable parameters (seriously, why would you socialize with a mudblood in the first place, let alone marry one) and those who wish to tell the world about the existence of magic. A hearty loathing of Muggles goes without speaking.
- Backtalk - Gavin will not go out of his way to insult anybody. He prefers to handle his business as professionally as possible, behind closed doors. He doesn't like to run about telling people his personal business. He cannot tolerate his secrets being spilled. He doesn't insult the other houses or the first years, because he honestly doesn't feel like they are worth his time or breath. he chooses to ignore them altogether and they should know better than to confront him. On the off chance that he does say something to them, it will be for a reason and they had better listen. If they don't, and the ignore him or talk back that's whenever his temper ignites.
- Brussels Sprouts- Any kind of sprout really, they taste like chalk to him and it's horrible. He can't even look at the tasteless lumps, let alone swallow them.
- Swimming - He's just not good at it. He can't stand doing less than his best and this is something he never really got a handle on. His brother used to throw him into their pool just to tease him. He can swim, he just looks like a dog while doing it. So he tries to avoid it altogether.
»» strengths:
- Logical - Gavin does hardly anything without thinking it through first. He's not what one would consider impulsive. Because of this, he can get into more trouble than others can because he knows how to get away with it. He can think two steps ahead and usually does. Sometimes it causes his speech to become jumbled because he can think fast than he can talk but overall he regards it as a major positive in his life. He likes being intelligent, it makes him more cunning.
- Quick-Witted - In the rare occasion that he gets in trouble, he can talk his way out of it. Or at least, he can talk around the subject long enough that the accuser loses focus or interest. He's gotten out of many detentions this way.
- Pride - He loves his family, and loves that he comes from something so powerful. He has such a rich heritage, and the pure-blooded society is one so vast in culture and knowledge, how could anybody not admire where it came from. It can do so many wonderful things. People like the Weasley's he cannot understand. Being a pure blood is an Honor of the highest esteem.
- Strong - Physically, he is a very large man. He weighs in around 180lbs, and is very tall in stature. He can hold his own and run for very long distances without becoming winded.
- Loyal - He has unconditional, unwavering dedication to his family and the things that they stand for. When the time comes for it, he will align that loyalty with the man who stands for all of the same things that he does.
»» weaknesses:
- Stubborn - Whenever it comes to his family or those he cares about, he can be so narrow minded. He cannot listen to reason, and he cannot see things any other way. He's very set in his ways and what he thinks is right and wrong. He cannot be moved.
- Prejudice - He cannot, will not, under any circumstances speak to somebody lower than him. Or anybody that he deems less than him. This includes ministry officials, teachers and of course other students.
- Selfish - outside of matters of his family, he can be extraordinarily selfish. It's the reason that almost none of his relationships have ever worked out. He doesn't put other people before himself. He holds himself in such high esteem, that it's hard for him to think well of others. He just assumes he knows best, and is better.
- Detached - A lot of people will consider his lack of interaction with the masses as lack of compassion. They assume that he doesn't care or isn't smart enough to speak. Whenever it comes to the plights of other people (unless it's those he has decided to give a damn about) he can't sympathize.
- Learning - Whenever it comes to learning new things, it's very difficult for him. He prefers to become an expert on a select few things. It takes him a very long time to learn a new subject well enough to have a conversation about it.
- The Damsel in distress - He likes to play hero from time to time, in his own way that is. He can't help but be drawn to a women who's crying. It's an opportunity that he just can't pass up. It always ends up paying off for him in the long run. They are always just so...grateful

»» history: Gavin was born on the thirteenth of November, to Franklin and Pearl Dewhurst during a particularly rough home birth. It had been snowing for weeks leading up to her due date resulting in a blizzard. Her first child, Everett had been born in St. Mungo's and due to the amount of complications the tiny woman had with her second pregnancy, Gavin should have been as well. Unfortunately, the blizzard that happened prevented this. It was lucky that she even survived the birth, even if her health has been more fragile ever since. He was the second child born to his parents, a second son and they couldn't have been more proud. They were a normal family, delighting in allowing their children to grow up with all of the splendor and comfort that money combined with magic could buy. His first few years were as normal as a person in a bubble could be. He hardly left the house save trips to his families house, he would later find out that this was because they didn't want him to know of the world, and all of the abominations in it until he was old enough to really put it into perspective and make the right choices of who to spend his time with. He was privately schooled during his adolescent years to be taught in the ways of the world. Along with a basic knowledge of reading, writing, and arithmetic. His parents had been very strict with this because they wanted him to have a good head start whenever he got to Hogwarts.
From a very young age the importance of family and good breeding was instilled into him until it was second nature. His parents were very firm believers in the 'it takes a village' method to where he spent a lot of his time with his aunts, uncles, and cousins. Because of which, he was provided with many points of views on a lot of subjects, but the value of pure blood was to be valued above all else. He wanted for nothing, anything that his parents couldn't provide (which was next to nothing) would be given to him by his extended family or friends of the family. He was doted upon by all, just like his brother was. Their father was a very hard working man, dedicated to everything that he did. While they did have a fair amount of family money, Franklin did his very best to expand that wealth on his own. Of course Mr. Dewhurst had a history shrouded in rumor in the best of times. Now that things were doing downhill so suddenly it's apparent where their alliance as a family lies. As head of house, Franklin is the one who's word is law, of course he knows what is best for his family and they have faith in his word. They know that they will never lead him astray, so whenever he came home one night sporting a bandage that covered his right forearm, they didn't question him. Since that time, he had been very absorbed in his travels, and the family likes to accompany him whenever they can. Certainly, Mr. Dewhurst moonlights as a Ministry official, just like most of the followers do his real job is whatever the Dark Lord asks of him.
Getting his letter to Hogwarts was a given, he had never had a doubt in his mind that he would be accepted so whenever the morning owls came in on the day of his birth, he didn't even hesitate. He was from a pure blooded family, and his magic had presented to him whenever he was seven. He had started school on a better note than a lot of people normally did. He had been raised with a web of children of both his age and breeding that he knew before he had even started. Those childhood friends boarded the train with him to start their educational journey together. Being sorted into Slytherin was also not a surprise. The rest of his family had been in the silver and green house, and he upheld their same values to why shouldn't he be sorted into the same house as his legacy? It made his father so proud that he bought Gavin his first pet, a handsome eagle owl for correspondence purposes. Classes proved to be more difficult than he had originally assumed. Perhaps it was arrogant of him to assume that he would have gotten preferential treatment due to his heritage, but that was not the case. He did alright, but it took real effort on his part, more effort than he had really given anything before.
While he would have liked to of been far more popular, Gavin understood that his family wasn't as important as some of the others, and thus his social standing had to be what he made of it. He made friends in all of the right places, and stuck to his rules of socialization. Yet, he was forced to recognize that he wasn't going to ever be a 'leading man' like his brother had been during his years. In his third year, his brother graduated at the top of his class but hadn't managed to make head boy much to their fathers disappointment. Thus, passing the proverbial torch down to him, one that he accepted readily. He was determined to be Quidditch captain at the very least, and Prefect or head boy at the best. Somebody in their family had to. Of course, there are so many more reputable and deserving Slytherins this year, and that stupid Potter kept stealing the house cup from them every single year, even whenever Slytherin earned the most points. His fourth year was the first one that he actually felt like an independent being, his own man. Fifth year, whenever things were back to normal he was able to resume his sports and his studies without the bother of other schools sharing everything with them. Now, entering into his sixth year at Hogwarts, he's looking to establish an even more concrete circle of contacts that he can carry into his seventh and final year at that school. He knows that he will be of age very soon and up for recruitment himself. He wishes to have the best grades that he can as a student as well as set himself up for a lucrative position to ensure his financial stability once he graduates. Above all, he is starting the search to settle himself down with the hopes of making a partnership where he will be able to further his bloodline in the future.
