Why she was trying so hard to make good out of this horrible situation was beyond him. He had never see anybody try to hard for anything-well, other than to get him in the sack, in his life. He was fairly certain that he he had said that she owed him twenty favors that she would have agreed to it if that meant he was going to think that she was a good person. It was all absolutely ridiculous. She was ridiculous. Most of the time Gavin tried to avoid people at all costs rather than condescend to interact with them. The amount of time that he had been giving her attention was unheard of for anybody outside of his house. He was a man who would do anything to get what he wanted, but she was not within any realm of the things that he wanted. That should have been obvious by now. There was no way that all of the things that she was doing, the following him around, the incessant talking about things that she knew nothing about, it couldn't all just be because she was indebted to him. He could understand wanting to protect an investment, but this was going a little bit too far. Perhaps she was just that desperate, new place and had no friends whatsoever and she was just looking for company where she could find it. Perhaps she had already romanticized him saving her life only moments ago, it wouldn't have been the first time that it had happened. She should just accept defeat, and move on with her life. He would find her whenever the time came and he needed her for something. Perhaps he could have her do his Herbology homework, since she was in almost all of his classes that would be a decent way for him to cash in his favors since there wasn't anything else that he could ever possibly want from her.
The fact that she was suddenly acting like she couldn't care less about what he was saying amused him. She really just must have been starved for human interaction. She probably had spotted him running earlier, and bumped into him on purpose. Wouldn't that just be awesome, this whole thing was just a ruse. It was all starting to make sense to him now. His eyes squinted at her, attempting to see if there was going to be some break in her charade, something to prove that his newest suspicions were indeed correct. Her laughter was throwing him off, the soft bell chime that it had to it. She was infuriating, their conversation was over, he had had the last word and now she could scamper off to lick her wounds elsewhere, he really couldn't have cared less. “We’ll see,” He scoffed at her soft words, she really just didn't know when to quit did she? He had been expecting something more, usually whenever he insulted people they took it more to heart that she was. She should at the very least look crushed, or cry or something. Those were the things that most girls that he rejected did. He wasn't sure what would motivate them to do anything else. Whatever, he didn't need to stand here and watch her attempt to justify his words to herself or whatever else was going on in her head right about now. Rolling his eyes he turned to start walking away, but something was forcing his retreat to be very slow.
Whenever she started to speak, so confidant, so sure he was forced to stop and listen to her little rant. He didn't turn, or meet her eyes but he did listen. Carefully. “Fine, you know what? Have it your way.” At first, her resignation had him hopeful that this was the very last that he was going to see of her, but then she kept right on talking. ”If you think you’re better than me without knowing a single thing about me, that’s your problem.” She was one to talk, she had done the exact same thing to him only moment ago, judging a book by his cover. If he came across as nice, or approachable because of his dashing good looks that wasn't his fault. It certainly didn't reflect his personality in the slightest. He felt his jaw beginning to pulse, the ebb of irritation taking over him little by little, until he had no choice but to turn around and face her. She was looking right into his eyes, not a hint of remorse for what she was saying. ”I can tell you that if you think it’s because of you being a pureblood, my blood is just as pure as yours so no dice there. That wasn't true. There was no way. If it was, she would have been in Slytherin and he would have known who she was. It was just about the only way that they would have ever been friends. She had to be lying, people lied about their blood status all of the time and he didn't see any reason why she wasn't lying about it right now. All of the good pure blooded families were in Slytherin. It was the only honorable house. Hell, Merlin himself had been a Slytherin. Everybody knew that. His expression was obviously confused, attempting to discredit her. Even if she was telling the truth, there was no way that her family was of any importance of all. He knew everybody that was anybody within that world. It was his business, it was expected of him. Yet the hits just kept on coming. ”If it has something to do with this idiotic house system, you’re on your own there. I don’t delve into those politics.” Stunned, he watched as she made a very deliberate path around her.
Nobody talked to him like that. It wasn't the first time he had thought that during their brief encounter, and he doubted it was going to be the last whenever he thought about her. Since her expression was emblazoned into his mind, like she felt sorry for him. Like he was limited in some way. It was unacceptable. “Have a good life,” Frustrated he yelled the first thing that came to mind “GOOD RIDDANCE” at her retreating frame, making very sure that his eyes weren't trained on any specific part of her anatomy as she walked away. Good riddance indeed. Turning around the direction that he had just come from, he pulled his shirt up and over his head, balling it into his fists once more. Taking off at a jog that quickly turned into a full out run his head was already pounding, repeating her words in his head. How she had managed to get him so worked up so quickly was beyond him. He didn't like it. That was for sure.
