How was it that he had never been there before, he had been at this school for seven years now, and he had never managed to find this place. He had overheard some of the students talking about it at lunch today, some place diverted around the far edge of the lake that was supposed to be both peaceful, and the best place to go skinny dipping. Personally, he had no interest in the latter, but he could use some peaceful right about now. He couldn't take thinking about all of the goodbyes that he was going to be handing out sooner rather than later, thinking about walking across that stage in his graduation robes was going to turn his stomach into knots. He wouldn't be surprised if he had given himself ulcers this past week alone. He was supposed to be looking forward to his future, about getting his dream job, and yet all he could think about was how he was going to be out on his own, no more people looking out for him, with every luxury at his fingertips at all hours of the day. He was going to have to learn how to do his own laundry. One thing after another. So, before he could think himself out of going, he had packed up his book bag, lighter than it normally was since now it only had the notes for his speech, and some pens and headed off for the lake. It was such a nice day out, that even if he couldn't find the place that the others had been talking about, the weather was doing enough to put him into a better mood. Pulling his glasses from his face he tucked them into the very front pocket of his bag, rubbing at the bridge of his nose as he went. The water lapping up at the edge of the lake was soothing, he could focus on it and attempt to not hear all of the other excited rabble of the other students dotting the Galaxia grounds, all of them looking forward to summer. At least he had something to keep him busy for all of summer, that was something to look forward to indeed.
His internship was finalized, and in just a couple shorts days he would be graduated. He had been scurrying around campus for a week now, making sure that he had all of his belongings, making sure that he had all of his things, returned all the things that needed to be returned. He had never worried about it before, things like accidentally taking a library book home with him over the summer because he had always had next year, always able to return it the following term...but no more. If he didn't return all of those things now, then he would be stealing them, and that just wasn't who he was. He had been getting his transcripts, making sure that he had all of his test scores ready and finalized...he had done far better this year than he had originally intended to do, it was amazing. His nerves had just started to settle over that, whenever nerves about where he was going to live next year, bills, and his whole future started to weigh down on him. Was it really about to be all over? He had been awarded head boy, such an amazing honor and he hadn't even really been able to enjoy it, he was supposed to be giving a speech at graduation and everything. Which, was why he needed to be away from everybody else. There was no quiet to be found inside of the castle, nobody was working, almost all of the classes except Potions that he knew of were light, not wanting to cover anything new while the student body was too worried about their summer plans, all of them had gone easy on the seventh years, in fact, most of his professors had even told him not to worry about even coming in for the rest of the year, to just worry about getting their affairs in order, ready themselves for their next step in life, moving on, getting their own lives started. Harland had been seventeen for awhile now, and had been legally able to apparate, cast a patronus and even use magic where ever he wanted for a long while now, but he just didn't feel the need. He had just been writing, in fact, that had been the only other item in his bag at current, it was even almost pointless to be carrying one at all with how litte there was in it. His journal had the startings of more mock articles than he could even count, which he was sure was pointless, given the fact that he was sure all he would be doing this summer was following people around and getting them coffee. Yet, it was what he loved to do.
He had been thinking on this internship for so long that he didn't even realize how long he had been walking, how far. But there were almost no people here, and once he rounded the bend that he was approaching he was certain that it would just be him and the sounds of the water, how perfect that would be. He might actually be able to get something done in that case. Glancing around him he waited to see if there were any stray lovers, people who would want to be alone and attempt to force him away, but he found nobody that he could see. He could hear a great rush of water, and hurried his pace. Sure enough, there was the most magnificent water fall that he had ever seen, the water looked both crystal blue and light pink at the same time, no doubt enchanted somehow. Grinning, he pulled his bag from his shoulder, feeling like the water might be just what it was that he needed after all. Picking a patch of glass around the edge of the oddly calm pool of water that circled the base of the waterfall he kicked his shoes off, and placed them neatly on top of his school bag, taking care not to crush his glasses, he had done that more times than he could count and yet never managed to purchase a glasses case. At least he had gotten better at mending things from all the practice that he gave himself. Stripping his t-shirt from his body but not bothering with his pants, he could always just dry them later he waded out into the water cautiously, not wanting something that lived in the water to gobble him up. Yet, those girls had said that it was good for swimming, so he hoped not. It wasn't like they had known that he was listening and purposely tried to lure him into harms way. He waited until he was about waist deep before pushing himself backward, further into the water as it pushed around his body, allowing himself to float, he closed his eyes, relishing in the water lapping around his face.
