Personality
strengths:
free spirited - Sura sees the majority of her life in one aspect: you only get to live once. As such, she is willing to try nearly anything once. She believes in taking risks where appropriate, after thinking things through properly, and enjoying every single moment she can. Sura prefers not to surround herself with people who bring her down, as she sees it as a waste of time where she could have been happy. She is constantly seeking to build new friendships with people who live her carefree lifestyle.
eloquent - Sura was brought up to be a proper lady, and although she has softened some of those ladylike aspects in recent years, she still conducts herself as such. She speaks well and minds her manners.
good sense of humour - They say that laughter is good for the soul, and if that is the case, then Sura figures her soul must be thriving.
intelligent - Sura has a quick mind and enjoys learning. She is very hands on, and thusly prefers physical work to theory. Her memory is good, especially when she is interested in something, so she finds it easy to recall information from many of her subjects.
loyal - Sura is fiercely protective of those she cares about. She will step up to bat for someone with little or no hesitation.
weaknesses:
stubborn - Sura can be stubborn to a fault. When she sets her mind to something, she sticks with it. That being said, she has found herself in trouble in the past when she bites off more than she can chew and ends up stressed, cranky, and all around mean.
outspoken - It has been said to her before that she is a little bit of a loud mouth. Sura had never had a problem with speaking her mind, whether it be to stand up for herself or someone else, or to simply state her opinion on the matter. The fact that she has made some enemies for it has not slowed her down in the least.
mischievous - Being a risk taker can of course not come without having a little bit of a mischievous side. Sura enjoys doing the forbidden once in a while, whether it's sneaking out at night or playing pranks on other students. Though she has certainly paid for some of her antics in the past, Sura sees the punishments as worth the experience.
appearance oriented - Her image is very important to her. She finds that she feels best about herself when she leaves feeling attractive in the mornings. As such, she takes good care of her hair and skin. She styles her hair and does her make-up each morning, though the day's events dictate the style and complexity of her design. She also works out often, preferring swimming and weight training to create and maintain her trim and sleek body.
temper - Though she can often keep herself controlled enough to know when to hold her tongue, Sura has been known to lose her temper when annoyed. This trait can occasionally go hand-in-hand with her outspokenness.
likes:
boys - Being that she likes to flirt, Sura enjoys the company of the opposite sex. She is generally interested in their outlooks and interests, and finds their company less stressful than that of other girls, at times.
swimming - Ever since she was a child, Sura's family often called her "Beag Iasc", meaning "Little Fish". Living on the coast while she was growing up, she learned to swim at a young age. She not only swims now to keep in shape, but for the stress relief and pure enjoyment she finds in it.
reading - There is not much else cozier to Sura than a warm blanket and a good book. She finds that it is the perfect activity for her when she needs to get away from the real world for a time.
flying - Though she never really ended up having a hand for playing Quidditch, Sura fell in love with flying and the sense of thrill it brings when she first started school. Though she has been in an accident or two, one of which left a scar on her back, the experiences have never slowed her down literally or figuratively.
friends and family - There is nothing else more important to Sura than her friends and family. They keep her grounded and bring her back to solid ground when she has strayed too far.
pub atmospheres - Pubs remind her of home. To her, ale and folk music are the makings for a perfect, laid back evening.
fashion and shopping - Being that Sura likes to take care of her appearance, it is not a surprise that she enjoys fashion and shopping. Looking her best means putting time and effort into every aspect of herself. Besides, what girl doesn't like to go out and buy a pretty new pair of heels?
dislikes:
drunken idiots - Just because she's Irish doesn't mean that sloppy drunks bother her any less than anyone else. They often irk her, and she can often find her night ruined if they are around.
two-faced friends - Sura simply can't be bothered with people who can run their mouth about her when she isn't around, but smile to her face.
being late - A trait bestowed upon Sura by her parents. If you say you're going to be somewhere at a particular time, then you had better be there at that time or earlier.
olives - No matter what anyone says, there is nothing delicious about those salty, briney fruits of disgusting.
history of magic - Yes, the class is necessary to take to achieve lack of ignorance about your ancestors history. No, that does not mean that reading the textbook and listening to her Professor drone on and on is interesting to her in any shape or form.
greatest desire: Sura constantly pursues success, so at this point in time, Sura's greatest wish is to ace her N.E.W.T.s in her seventh year. She knows that if she performs well on those, that the things she will want after school (when she finally figures out what those things are) will fall into her lap.
worst fear: Sura's worst fear is abandonment. The concept of life without any of her friends or family by her side is absolutely unbearable.
to be head over heels: Sura values several qualities in a man, including intelligence, a sense of humour, the ability to be a gentleman, and being physically well-kept (including grooming and fitness).
amorentia: Summer air, Irish meadows, parchment, cinnamon.
worst memory: Sura's worst memory is of a collision between she and her brother while they had been racing their brooms. Their brooms splintered upon collision, and when they landed on the ground, Sura was left with a sizeable piece in her lower back, while her younger brother had a piece lodged in his chest. To this day, she still has nightmares about his screams and shortness of breath, and her inability to ease his pain while waiting for help.
Just Like Magic
favourite subjects: Transfiguration and Charms.
least favourite subject: History of Magic, Muggle Studies.

What Made The Girl
family:
mother - Aislin Doyle, 45
father - Liam Haughton, 48
brother - Finn Haughton, 14
pets: a female tawny owl named Aideen.
history:
Sura Aria Haughton was born on a snowy February night in 1995 in Dublin, Ireland. She hails from a long line of Irish kin, and although she does not share the same red hair as several of her family members, they still consider her just as firey. Even as a baby, she was fiesty, demanding the attention of her parents when she was left alone too long, or a toy was just out of her reach. She was her parents' first child, and they spoiled her with the appropriate affection and attention, and then some. Only a few years later, her brother Finn was born. Though she was only three years old, she was fiercely protective of him, and opted to help her parents with him in any way she could. As they grew up, Finn remained one of her closest friends.
As young children, Sura and Finn were taught to swim on the beaches of Dublin. Though they both learned rather quickly, it was Sura who took more passion in it. Her parents enrolled Sura in competitive swimming for several years, though she had to withdraw when she left for Hogwarts. However, Sura never gave up on the sport, and continued to swim competitively during her summers. She contributes her slim figure to her many hours spent in lakes and pools.
Aislin and Liam brought their children up to be respectable and well-mannered. In the final year before she attended Hogwarts, Sura attended a finishing school in Kilkenny. It was there that Sura further honed the skills her mother had taught her throughout her life, including proper posture, manners, dining etiquette, written and verbal communication skills, and self-maintenance. Sura contributes her year at the school for developing her love of fashion, hair, and make-up. Though she has since toned down the prim and proper lifestyle that she learned, she still presents herself as a well-brought up lady, and handles herself very well in high-class company.
Wanting her children to see different parts of the world, Aislin had decided when her children were very young that they would be attending school in Austria. Sura spent hours of her childhood in German lessons so that she would be able to speak it once she arrived at school. Though English and Gaelic are her first languages, she is quite comfortable with the German language. Sura fondly recalls her time with her language instructor, Frau Bauer.
Sura was sorted into Ravenclaw upon arrival at Hogwarts. She settled into the routine of schooling rather quickly, entranced by the fact that there were so many new things that she could learn. The more she enjoyed a subject, the better she performed in it, notably earning some of the top grades in her class for Transfiguration and Charms over the years. Though there were several subjects she did not enjoy, she abided them because she knew they were still important. At school, Sura took up flying as a way to blow off steam in the winter months (when she could not swim). Though she quickly learned that she was really not all that great at Quidditch, she was still very comfortable on a broom, and that was enough for her. Even after the crash with her brother in her fifth year, which had landed both of them in the Hospital to mend the internal damage, she stuck with it.
Over the years, Sura made friends rather easily. Enemies were also made along the way, but she could never be bothered to pay that fact any mind. She began dating in her third year, and after a particularly nasty failed romance in her fifth year, Sura made the decision to take a more casual, detached approach to the world of men. Though by no means an easy girl, she enjoys the freedom and lack of heartbreak that comes with the territory.
Now going into her seventh and final year, Sura is focused on acing her N.E.W.T.s and living her last year at school to the absolute fullest. She has no idea what she wants to do with her life after school, so she is hoping that something will become blatantly obvious to her this year.
