Least Favorite House:
Ravenclaw. Insufferable know-it-alls, the lot of them.
What would a typical day in your character's life be like?
Minka is generally an early riser, regardless of what time she finds herself in bed in the evening. Nearly every day, she is out running by 7:15 at the latest. If you ask her why, the reasons are numerous depending on the day; but when it boils down to it, she runs to keep in shape and to keep her sanity. After a quick shower and a moment of vanity at her mirror, she heads down to breakfast with her house mates. Most of her day is spent engrossed in her studies, partially her own choice, partially the wish of her parents. She is much more likely to spend extra time (and happily, at that) on the subjects that she finds the most interest in: charms and potions. Minka tries to keep her late afternoons and evenings for her own devices, separate from her studies. These are the hours you will find her running, flying, and socializing.
Describe your character's personality:
Raised to be a proper Pureblooded lady, Minka is at best bubbly and friendly, and at worst downright nasty. Her mother was very stringent on manners, and drilled them into her over the years. Therefore, unless she completely loses her temper, those she dislikes are met with an air of distain and icy politeness. Though her family was never quite Pureblood or Slytherin supremecist, Minka does hold a note of dislike for members of other houses, and can at times be quite short with them. Ravenclaws hold a special place in her heart for teasing and sharp remarks, as she has never been able to put up with their "exceedingly intelligent" attitude. Her qualms with others are almost never over blood, though she has displayed a note of entitlement due to that very subject at times in the past. Overall, though there is tradition that she knows she must hold as a Pureblood, the status does not rule her. If nothing else, Minka struggles with those she finds boring or annoying, having very little patience for those that get under her skin. She has been known to lace insults with a smile.
Minka is quite vocal. Whether she is happy or unhappy, she has no problem with letting those around her know. This trait has made her friends and enemies alike. When faced with creating or losing one or the other, she weighs the pros and cons carefully; after all, sometimes someone is better off as an acquaintance than an enemy, even if you can't stand to be around them, considering how unsure these times are. However, she is extremely loyal to those that she chooses as her friends, and will only break the relationship if it becomes toxic. Around them, she is extremely friendly, and enjoys to let loose and have fun.
When it comes to relationships, Minka is relatively private. She keeps most details about her friendships and boyfriends to herself, save for those in her closest circle of friends. If she is seeing someone, it is not uncommon for her to be seen in public with them, exchanging modest affections. It should be noted that, in private, she is more passionate. Minka tries to keep herself reigned in when in public with a man of interest, because her mother would be sure to give her an earful if Minka acted any less than dignified and her mother heard about it. In recent years, Minka has cared less and less for the chiding of her parents, especially now that she is coming into a more social age. She considers several situations involving her friends more than worth the Howlers and scolding.
Though she still feels too young for it, Minka knows that in the next year or so, she must stray from frivolous relationships and look for something more serious, preferably with a "nice, Pure boy" (according to her parents); if by her 21st birthday she has not found an acceptable and serious suitor, an arranged marriage will be considered for her. If she does not agree to the marriage, her family will cut ties with her. She has not decided what it means for her yet, as she is unsure if her own dreams and desires will trump love, or in the worst-possible case, her family.
Her temper is generally good, save for a select few that she holds an especially short fuse for. Minka often swallows her most venomous emotions, replacing them with her trademark tight-lipped smile and icy cool comments. At her highest points, Minka can be extremely excitable, and has been known to raise her voice when something is particularly pleasing to her.
Minka is competitive in the things that she finds interest in. As such, she puts plenty of effort into these areas, striving to best her own records, as well as those of others. She is intelligent, even if she has no patience or attention span for certain subjects; Minka excels where she desires to. She is quite good at problem solving, making something out of seemingly nothing when the opportunity arises. Minka uses what is available to her, to the fullest extent. She does not make concessions for other people unless they hold a special place in her heart; she refuses to compromise herself to make someone happy unless she absolutely, undeniably must.

Inhale, exhale. Inhale, exhale. Left, right. Left, right. Keep on pushing, don't stop pushing. Minka could hear her blood rush past her ear drums, a steady pulse that kept her pace for her. The only other sounds around her were those of her running shoes pattering against the dirt and stones of the path, the quiet hiss of the wind through the leaves of the woods, and the occasional chirp of a bird somewhere in the depths of the greenery. The white light of morning filtered through the canopy of the woods, casting her surroundings in a dim light. The fog that had settled here the night before hadn't even burned off yet, leaving a thick cloud to swirl around her legs as she ran. It was early; 6:00 was just pushing the darkness of night. She was an early bird, but this was a little crazy even for her. But no matter how hard she had tried the night before, she had not been able to sleep, because the thoughts of one single person had tormented her.
One single person was named Adrian Fearn. He was a fellow Slytherin, seventh year just like she was, and as much as she absolutely hated to admit it, he had absolutely stomped on her heart. They had dated since their fifth year, seriously since their sixth. Just the past evening, she had caught him with Mariah Brooks, the little blonde harlot of Slytherin that had been known to ruin several relationships in the past few years. She had walked in on them in the Girls' Dormatories, no less. How in the name of Merlin had he ever thought that, of all places in Hogwarts, that the Slytherin Girls' Dorm would be a safe place to carry out his little secret? Disgusting. The thought made her stomach roll, bile threatening to creep up her throat. Minka took a deep breath and picked the pace up, her pulse skipping up into time. Perhaps the exertion would help her keep the worst of her emotions in check.
When she had caught him, true to her nature, she had not shouted, had not caused a scene. No, she had given him that tight-lipped smile and told him in that sickeningly sweet voice that she hoped his little tryst with that little slut was worth it and slammed the door. She had walked straight past everyone in the Common Room, which had fallen utterly silent at the slamming sound she had caused, that little smile on her lips as she nodded to those she knew. She headed straight for the nearest classroom, locking herself in and pacing for what must have been hours before she curled up by the fireplace and tried to sleep. Of course, that hadn't been an option, as it turned out. And there she had waited, until the sun's light finally broke through the window. She returned to the dorms, changed into her running gear, and left the castle as quickly as her legs would carry her.
And the worst part, the absolute worst part? Love. She thought that she was in love with him. Maybe that was why this hurt so much, made her feel like there was an invisible hand squeezing her heart, another threatening to wind her again and again. These feelings that she'd had for the last few months, but had never known the word to put to them? Maybe love was exactly what it had been. He'd never treated her as anything less than a princess before this; he showered her with gifts, knew exactly how to make her smile, held her tightly when he kissed her, stroked her hair as she studied for a particularly stressful exam or test. What had gone wrong? Hadn't she been enough, done enough, said enough? How did he even justify treating her like that?
That thought made her eyes burn, and suddenly it was as if all of the air had been squeezed out of her lungs. Minka leaned back to slow herself, reaching out for a tree to hold her up as she gasped, hot tears rolling down her cheeks. She made no sound except for the vicious gasping, her shoulders shaking as she tried to steady herself. Obviously, it wasn't going to happen, and with that realization she gave in to her feelings: the one thing she rarely did even in private. She sank to the ground, still hugging the tree. Even running, her salvation over the years, was not what she needed right now. Minka wretched, trembling as she tried to hold herself off the ground. The taste of bile was bitter on her tongue, and heaved for what seemed like ages, even though there was really nothing in her stomach. She spat off to the side when the nausea had finally subsided. Her hand shook as she pulled her wand from her hip, muttering a quick Scourgify to clean where she had been sick. Minka turned and sat with her back against the tree, wiping the tears from her cheeks, even though she still felt like there were more to be shed. And if it hadn't have been for the sound of footfalls approaching her, she probably would have let it happen.
Minka took a deep shuddering breath, forcing all of the emotions that had welled up in her moment of weakness, forcing them down, deep down, and locking them away. Wiping her face with the back of her hand, she leaned down and pretended to be stretching out an imaginary cramp in her calf, massaging the muscle with her fingers. A deep, shuddering breath, and she was composed, the only sign that she had been a wreck not a moment before being her red, shiny eyes. Hopefully, the dimmed light of the woods would be enough to cover that.
