Character's Full Name:
Celeste Charisse Cato
Her name is not originally “Celeste Charisse Cato.” No, her real name is currently unknown and perhaps it never existed. “Celestw Charisse” is her adopted parents’ choice and “Cato” is the last name of her muggle family.
Nicknames, pseudo names:
Triple C
Her initials happen to be the lovely work of alliteration her language-loving parents created for her. The nickname is amusing to her and she really doesn’t mind it with friends. After all, if she ever had to be a superhero, that’d be the name she’d pick.
CeCe (CC)
Perhaps the nickname she is least fond of, CeCe happens to make the girl wince and shudder—sometimes literally. The nickname sounds too prissy to her and she honestly despises feeling like a spoiled brat—which is what that name does to her.
Age && Birthday: Seventeen && June 11 — That makes her a Gemini.
Year: Seventh.
Blood:
Half-blood
There is much confusion about Celeste’s blood and who she descended from. She, as well as everyone else at Hogwarts Galaxia, believes that she is a completely muggle child.
House:
Hufflepuff
Celeste is the kind of girl who spends every hour in life smiling as much as possible. A natural aura around the teenager suggests that she is an exceptionally happy person who will go out of her way to make someone—anyone who seems to be down—happy. But not only does her joyous nature put her in Hufflepuff, but the girl is very fair. Due to her upraising, her parents always taught her right from wrong, good from evil, and white from black like good muggle Christian parents. She has a strong sense of justice, loyalty, and bravery which causes her to be unafraid of situations and circumstances which would call upon her stronger qualities.
Eye color: Bright gray-blue; call it sky blue.
Hair color: Blonde with darker roots; blame the sun for highlights.
Height: 5’7”
General Appearance:
Eyes:
Color: The color of Celeste’s eyes rarely change; in fact, the only aspect of her eyes that ever seem to change is the level of brightness. The girl will always have gray-blue eyes, no matter how happy or upset she is. But when emotions stir and she smiles like the day could never end or when there is no smile that might just indicate she’s ready to die… her eyes do show that—only in how brilliant or dull they are, however. And that’s “the thing” about them: she hides how she feels almost constantly just to make sure that the world around her is doing better and so the changes in her eyes often go unnoticed.
Makeup: Aside from mascara, Celeste rarely wears make up. She prefers the natural look because she was raise to believe in inner beauty. But should an occasion arise, she prefers to stick with pastel colors, normally browns and pinks, because she tries to be modest. Yet, in her case of makeup, one would find black eyeliner and darker makeup that would suggest that the girl is simply waiting for the right time for a makeover that would cause people to think differently of her; she has yet to even open those.
Lashes: Most of the time, Celeste’s eyelashes have a coating of mascara in them. Although already long, they don’t curl as much as she would like them to without the liquid aide. Most of the time, she uses black mascara which causes her eyelashes to differ from her hair and eyebrows.
Hair:
Color: A natural blonde, one would find it awkward that her roots seem to be darker than the rest of her hair. She has sun-highlighted tresses that take on the same hue as honey. Aside from the roots of her hair, one would easily find that the rest of her locks are evenly of the same color and tone.
Length: When she was younger, Celeste loved having short hair—it was less of a hassle for her. But as she grew up and matured, she found that long hair suited her best. Her bangs layered around her face to frame it while the rest grew out to her mid-back. Occasionally, her hair will seem shorter because of added curls or longer because she took the time to straighten it.
Style: Lately, in her seventh year of Hogwarts, Celeste has been wanting to try something new, but not drastic. The general style of her hair consists of her bangs outlining her face and the rest of her hair tied back into a ponytail. Other times, she’ll have her hair in bouncy curls, normally with a ponytail. The only instance which she will not have a ponytail at all would be when her hair has been completely straightened. Otherwise, it is probable—and likely—that her bangs will be in her face and the rest pulled back.
Skin:
Color: Simply to say, Celeste has pale skin. But luckily, her skin is even throughout the entirety of her body. Although she absolutely loves being outside in the sunlight, the girl has to make sure she wears a good amount of sunscreen or unrevealing clothes because she would be returning as pink as a rose…and certainly in pain.
Type: Unfortunately for her, the girl has skin that burns instead of tans. If she stays out in the sun too long without any protection, the pigments in her skin reveal the pinkish color that would fade to white if someone were to touch her. Even worse, the burns cause her pain so she tries her best not to stay out too long without sunscreen or long-sleeved shirts.
Head:
Structure: With a smile constantly on her lips, it seems as if he cheeks have adapted a permanent ridge around her cheeks. Aside from that, her face is in a way triangular when leading to her chin though she certainly has no flat lines to define her face. The expressions are always soft and kind, gentle and sweet, partially influenced by the curves of her cheeks, nose, lips, and overall face, but also by the good-girl aura that has always seemed to surround her.
Body:
Shoulders: Strong and straight and never slouched but always showing a strong sense of self-pride and dignity, Celeste’s small shoulders match her frame: simply, they’re not too broad. They serve the purpose to square her body and almost force her to hold herself highly in a sense of self-security.
Torso: Although she’s not very athletic, Celeste has a well-built body. Equipped with a fast metabolism, the girl is blessed with a slender body. Her stomach seems to have a naturally chiseled set of abs, though they are very faint and normally unnoticed. As for her chest, Celeste has a modest body which suits her personality. She has no desire to “grow into” a more feminine body seeing as she has an hourglass figure.
Limbs:
Arms: For a girl who doesn’t seem to workout much, Celeste has surprisingly strong arms. She may not be able to lift much, but she can take her own bodyweight and even a bit more. Well-toned for a girl, Celeste’s arms do suggest that she is fully capable of taking care of herself.
Legs: She may not be that athletic, but Celeste can sure run. She runs a lot, to be honest, especially from class to class because she often forgets something and has to go back o her dorm or something similar to that matter. Her legs are long and well-toned, muscular with very little fat aside from what is necessary to keep her body warm.
Strengths:
Charisma: Celeste is a naturally charismatic young woman. She loves to indulge herself in conversations with others and bring a smile to others’ lips. An authentic, figurative glow surrounds her which has the intentions to lighten the mood. There is nothing Celeste won’t talk about, whether it be her past, her present, her future, or something that really doesn’t have anything to do with her at all.
Limelight: Although she’s a good, modest girl, Celeste loves to be the center of attention. She finds it fun to entertain others—normally as a means of making them smile and laugh. It’s hard for her not to bring attention to herself with her flamboyant and vociferous mannerisms. Broad gestures, bright expressions, and a voice that’s strong but not obnoxiously loud create the general make up of Celeste’s character. After all, acting has always been a favorite of her pastimes when she was thought to be a muggle child.
Boys: It may not seem possible, but a girl who is both modest and religious happens to be a major flirt. Well, that’s only partially true. Celeste doesn’t go out looking for a boy to flirt with, but should she feel a connection between herself and another boy, she has no problem expressing her affection. Even more so, the girl has a much cuter form of attacking her aspirations; she’d much rather be seen as a child to the one she fancied than a one-night stand—but it’d be lovely if she could be seen as a young woman through his eyes.
Divination: Growing up, Celeste always knew something was different about her than the rest of the people she knew. She saw things that people often didn’t notice and for a period of time, she believed what she saw were optical illusions. After all, a mess of tealeaves normally is just that: a mess of tealeaves. But to her, she saw shapes and figures in them; she saw suns and stars, crosses and grims. At first, she thought this was a normal gift, but when she finally enrolled in a Divination class, she discovered that the coincidences in tealeaf grims and deaths were more than just a coincidence.
Weaknesses:
Klutz: With such a bouncy exterior, it’s no wonder that Celeste is a klutz. She trips frequently, slips with her words and messes up grammar, drops things, breaks things, and heaven forbid one would allow her to try to fix something because it would end up in a worse condition than before. Even with her sweet nature, she can’t help the more negative consequences that her impatience and rashness cause. Of course, she’s quick to apologize and recover from many of her accidents…unless she’s having a bad day—then she’s more likely to cry and make a scene out of what would be considered a causal day’s accident.
Attention. Deficit. Hyperactivity. Disorder.: In her fast-paced life which she has forced upon herself, Celeste has difficulty focusing on one thing for extended amounts of time. She can pay attention for a few minutes, but if the topic is overly extended or just boring, the Hufflepuff will eventually tune out whatever she’s being forced to listen to. But if a serious situation calls upon her, she will be able to force herself to pay attention. Although her A.D.H.D. is rather mild, it does exist. Also, when it comes to music, there are rare instances where Celeste will let a song play its full length when in control of what she’s listening to.
Talkative: Because of her joyous nature, Celeste has no difficulty talking to people. In fact, she talks too much. The girl has no sense of privacy, able to talk about anything that pops into her mind—which, mind her A.D.D.—is bound to change the topic more than necessary in an hour…that is if a person can hold her attention that long. Of course, when Celeste gets lost in a talking tantrum, she hardly notices what goes on around her: a person could come and go and she wouldn’t notice.
Disorganization: With her A.D.H.D. and habit of tuning people out, Celeste finds herself in deep crevices of disorder. She forgets her homework assignments, misplaces her books, loses her way, and horribly manages her time. Luckily for the girl, however, she always has her wand and has never lost it. This aspect of Celeste has probably placed her on a more negative term with her teachers; however, she tries to compensate for this by being as respectful and polite as possible.
Interests && Hobbies:
Flirting: Nothing distracts Celeste more from her studies than a cute guy. Granted that her eyes are picky on who they select for her to target, but when they find a boy, the girl has a one-tract mind: him. Not to make her seem like a stalker, but she observes the person first and figures out which form of wording would catch his fancy the best. She may be a quite the ditz, but when it comes to her (future) relationships, she tries her best to make them work out smoothly and successfully.
Reenactments: Celeste loves to reenact things she has seen. Growing up, she loved theatre and acting; when she came to Galaxia, she almost expected a drama company, but to her disappointment, there was none. So instead, she’ll act out something she read in a book or something that she has heard from someone else if it’s interesting enough. The entire process of pretending to be someone else or create a different scene in her mind brings a smile to her lips—and often to the lips of others as well. Plus, if it's history related, it helps her learn.
Gossip: Seeing as she loves to talk, it’s only natural for her to want to talk to others…about others. Celeste tries her best not to talk behind someone’s back, but there are times when her mouth works faster than her brain—well, actually, that tends to be most of the time—and a bad word occasionally slips. She can’t help it sometimes, she absolutely loves to talk and when someone else talks to her and they start up a juicy conversation… well, things get out of hand, especially for a seventeen year old girl.
Sexual Orientation:
Experimenting: Although one would say it’s against her religion to be bisexual, Celeste finds herself very curious. She may be Christian by connection to her parents but after finding out that she was a witch, that pretty much ruined her complete “good girl” point of view. The girl isn’t too sure what she thinks of men and women and she wants to broaden her perspective on the many possibilities in her future and who it’s with. After all, being a witch defies Christianity, so … why not try her sexual orientation?
Truly: No matter how hard she tries though, Celeste will never be able to be anything other than straight. Her truest affections will only be for a male, never a girl. It’s always awkward for her to try and flirt with a girl anyway. Yes, Celeste is certainly a straight girl, but she’s very confused about herself—as she has been for many years.
Something Unique About Your Character:
Religion: When Celeste was adopted, she was adopted by a predominately muggle family; they were Christian. Growing up, she had very few magical run-ins which were believed to be miracles of God. When she received her letter from Galaxia, it was first believed as a prank. As time went on and the letters continued to arrive, her adopted parents began to worry. They had two other children by the time she was eleven and everything in their life seemed to be falling apart. Yet, the family was finally persuaded to allow Celeste go to Galaxia as long as she promised to keep her faith—which she did. As strange as it may seem, she is still a Christian girl who, during the summer, goes to church with her family every Sunday.
Personality:
Flirtatious: Celeste is the kind of girl who finds it very easy to be around people. It doesn’t matter what kind of person because in truth, she loves a variety of company. Around boys, she finds it easier to smile and laugh as well as through out a few compliments and semi-suggestive quotes. She loves to try to make them smile or laugh with her while contemplating how long she intended to be with him. Her flirt sessions, however, were simply insincere and for a night’s pleasure of company and only company.
Optimistic: Optimism isn’t the easiest type of perspective to keep. When situations get rough and the outcomes don’t look very good, a person would find pessimism or being cynical would suit them best. Yet Celeste tries her best to keep a smile on her lips as well as a positive aura which she hopes would pass on to those around her. Growing up, she heard phrases such as, “smiles are contagious,” and “attitudes are contagious; is yours worth catching?” Naturally, she believed if she initiated better feelings, then people would soon start to feel the same way. This train of thought she drives makes her the strong, hopeful girl that she is.
Faith: Her family had a strong sense of faith in their religion and raised their children to be the same. Although Celeste is the only adopted child of the family, she was nurtured and taught like the rest of her relatives. She was baptized shortly after being adopted; every Sunday she went to mass with her family; most Wednesdays, she attended the “youth group” program that was designed for kids her age to discuss their beliefs and occasionally just play games. Going to Hogwarts Galaxia didn’t change that; it only affected her availability which caused Celeste to only be present during the summer. She still believed in certain aspects of her religion, but she found that being a witch took away from her credibility to consider herself fully Christian.
Humor: Even with her internal conflicts, Celeste doesn’t let anything weigh her down. She smiles and laughs just as everyone ought to: frequently and heartedly. Although she may not seem like the brightest of people—girls in particular—the Hufflepuff is quick to catch on jokes and is rather witty in dealing them. Surrounding herself in similar company, she laughs openly at something she finds funny, even if others do not. Of course, she ends up blushing afterwards and apologizing.
Confidence: As a child, the stage was perhaps Celeste’s third home. First there was her real home, then Church, and then the spotlight. She loved to throw herself out in front of people, regardless of the criticism they would give. Her family had raised her to never let anyone weigh her down and to be confident going into everything she chose to support. Because of this upraising, she holds herself high and dignified, confident in whatever she is doing. Even if she becomes a fool in the process, she will come out happily and with a smile on her lips.
Judgment: Ever since she has been able to coherently think for herself, the Catos have taught her right from wrong. Each day consisted of considering possibilities and choosing between the right and wrong choices. The way her parents taught her, it seemed as if everything was black and white without any possibility for grayness. There were no “what if” situations, but only “no matter what,” and “under no conditions.” Because of the rather strict terms her parents viewed life in, Celeste adapted the same mindset. If there is no right or wrong answer or if the question cannot be answered in a direct “yes” or “no,” Celeste will wonder around it in circles, often contradicting her points and views. She often becomes upset if she believes she cannot find the answer. Needless to say, her judgment is rather iffy depending on the subject.
Honesty: However faulty her judgment may be, Celeste will scarcely lie. She may say something that seems to go against what most people would believe, but she will always back her statements with an honest word and, hopefully, a concrete piece of evidence. The majority of her words are sincere and truthful, but at the same time, normally what someone wants to hear. When it comes to saying something that someone needs to hear, but does not want to, Celeste has difficulty in summoning the courage to tell them. In the end, she will pull through and do so in the sweetest words she can imagine, but she still feels bad afterwards until she has been sincerely reassured that everything will be alright and that she is still loved.
Modesty: For someone who loves the stage, Celeste really isn’t the type of person to be full of herself. She lives for the happiness of others. Depending on compliments, her reactions vary from a smile and blush to a complete denial of what the person accuses her of portraying. The girl sees herself as a simple person who is “special” in a fashion which separates her from others. But at the same time, she knows that there are other people, male and female, who are more qualified, fortunate, beauteous, wise, etc. She accepts the bare minimum from her appearance and does not expect someone to go out of his or her way to tell her how pretty she looks. In fact, she tries to steer free from that path unless an occasional calls for it.
Pride: Celeste is the kind of girl who takes pride in what she does. Feeling accomplished is a great feeling to her. But there’s also that sense of dignity a person has for him- or herself which she also possesses. She’s not arrogant about what she does or who she is, but she is certainly not ashamed. Her family never let her feel disappointed in herself, though sometimes it couldn’t be helped no matter how much they tried. The feeling of being “good enough” was never that; she always felt as if she had to surpass standards, even if just by a little, to feel good about herself… and that’s how she feels most of the time.
Trust: Although it’s normally difficult, the Hufflepuff has a relatively easy time trusting people. Her open nature certainly aids this process seeing as she can talk about anything to anyone. She has a policy of giving people the benefit of the doubt and believes in “innocent until proven guilty” rather than “guilty until proven innocent.” Even though she is quick to trust someone, Celeste is often repaid with stabs in the back. But when she’s lucky, she has made a friend who can, in turn, open up to her. Just giving trust is half the process, after all. When receiving someone else’s respect and trust, she will protect it with all she’s worth.
Pain: Celeste isn’t the kind of girl to willingly inflict pain on someone or something unless she truly believed in a cause that backed her up. Even if she would hurt something, she would never wound the innocent. When it comes to dealing with pain, however, she handles it in a way which does no good for anyone: she bottles it up. She opens up easily to anyone, but at the same time, she only talks about the good things in life. Talking about aspects in life full of angst isn’t her style or choice for conversation, thus she avoids it as often as possible.
Rage: For a seventeen year old girl, the Hufflepuff has a great temper. She rarely becomes angered by someone or something, but simply smiles and bears. Little things don’t set her off, after all, she’s more A.D.D. than O.C.D. But when she does get ticked off, someone must have been incredibly and persistently dumb to get her into that agitated state. Her angers are set intently on herself than on others and she’ll blame herself for everything that has gone amiss. She has never intentionally inflict pain on her body, but she beats herself mentally instead.
Disappointment: Handling disappointment is a tragedy for Celeste. She’d rather be hated than disappoint those she loves. Perhaps the only thing that can truly get her in the dumps, aside from deaths of loved ones, is feeling disappointed in herself or having someone feel that way towards her. She shuts herself up as a result of this and loses her talkative cheer. In fact, it would seem as if someone died, if not Celeste herself, from the way she was acting.
Family:
Adopted Father: Ace Cato.
Adopted Mother: Beatriz Cato.
Brother: Dominic Cato.
Sister: Estelle Cato.
Real Father: Xenos Zareh
Real Mother: Variel Zareh
Pets: None.
Relationships:
Adopted Parents: Celeste has a strong relationship with her both of her adopted parents. The Catos adopted her when she was an infant, too young to remember being the daughter of a couple that didn’t want her. As a child, the slumbering witch was obedient and the prized daughter of the family. Growing up, she was just the same: she listened to what she was told and carried through on what was requested of her. By the time her true nature was revealed to the family of five (after the birth of her brother and sister), relations between Celeste and her parents became a bit more stressed. First, Ace and Beatriz believed they were cursed for a witch child. But as the months passed, they overcame their religious beliefs for their child and accepted her once again. Since then, Ace, Beatriz, and Celeste have been closely knit.
Brother: The younger brother by two years, Dominic is the first child that the Catos naturally conceived. He and Celeste share a strong relationship as siblings; they always have and always will, hopefully. Out of all her relatives, Dominic is the one who writes her most while she’s away at Galaxia. The two of them have a bond unlike any other; they contact each other frequently and keep each other updated on situations and events. When Celeste first went off to Hogwarts, he always believed that he would go with her, but that never happened. For a while, he was envious and rebellious against his older sister, but after he understood why he wasn’t admitted into a wizarding school, he went to her to make up.
Sister: Estelle, who is the youngest of the family, is five years younger than Celeste. The two of them aren’t very close, but as an older sister, Celeste feels it is her duty to protect her youngest sibling whenever she can. Whenever she sees her parents being what she would consider “too harsh” on Estelle, Celeste steps in and tries to help her out. They get along very well, but because Estelle is only twelve years old, they don’t understand each other enough to have a well developed relationship. When Estelle enrolls in high school, the two would probably be closer.
Real Parents: When Celeste grew up, her parents told her of how she came to be: conceived of another family but adopted by the Catos. Even though she doesn’t know her real parents, Celeste thinks well of them, admiring their courage to give her up when they knew they couldn’t care for her.
Character History:
When two people fall in love, the fairytales suggest that they immediately plan to move in together and start a family; but when Xenos and Variel fell in love, they planned to live life to its fullest… without children. The very idea of having to take care of a child frightened the couple because they barely knew how to take care of themselves. Getting into trouble was a favored pastime, but causing it and getting away certainly topped the list. The biggest risks they ever took was with each other.
First, it was love. But from love sprouted lust and soon enough, Variel was pregnant with a child neither of them could take care of. They talked it out, informed their parents, and before anyone knew it, talks of adoption and giving up the child were being made. The couple, still unwed, knew they could not handle a child before even trying. Everything resulted in a fairytale ending for the soon-to-be wedded duet, but their unnamed child’s story continued.
After being taken away, the newly born infant was swiftly removed from the scene, cared for by the nurses, and before the Zareh couple could do anything about it, adopted by the Catos. For the longest time, the Catos believed they could not produce offspring together and refused to try to through means of other persons who offered themselves. Instead, since they could not create their own, they chose from those who had already been made. They wanted a child whose appearance would mirror their own, however, because they wanted the best possible life for him or her.
Then they came upon the unnamed infant. As if their prayers had been answered, they adopted the baby girl, naming her Celeste after the heavens which they believed blessed their lives. Taking her home, they prepared her for what would be the most normal life anyone could ever hope for. Even the births Dominic and Estelle weren’t as shocking or surprising as would be expected. Instead, this was another miracle that was sanctified in their lives.
When Celeste’s eleventh birthday came around, a letter arrived from an unknown school: Hogwarts Galaxia. Ace and Beatriz were shocked to see such a preposterous piece of mail. When they showed Celeste what was sent to her, she simply became upset. She thought that her parents would send her off to a place where poorly behaved children would be disciplined. After they had assured her that they had no such intent, her parents tossed the letter into the fireplace. The next day, an identical letter arrived.
Once convinced that this was not a prank, the parental Catos sat down together and discussed their child’s future. It seemed so against their religion to let their daughter become a witch. But when they remembered that they had adopted her and accepted to love her not matter what, the two wondered if any of this would have changed if they discovered her parents were magical persons. After all, if there was a school for witches and wizards, there had to be a decent amount of them, if not more.
Contemplating the circumstances of her birth, Ace and Beatriz decided that they would send Celeste to Hogwarts Galaxia. When they spoke to her, they revealed to her the secret that she was not their real child. The couple assumed that with the time away from home, she would have the proper chance to digest what they had uncovered. They promised her she wouldn’t be abused or intentionally hurt and that they would always be willing to take her back home if she ever needed to drop out.
The Catos were merely muggles and didn’t have the slightest idea what Galaxia would be like for their daughter, so naturally, they assumed the worst. After all the shopping before school started, Celeste’s parents reminded her of how much they loved her and how proud they were. She was the first in the Cato family to ever be declared a witch. Being the first of something so obscure was difficult to admire, but at the same time, both her little sister and brother looked up to her even more than they had before.
