Dear Members,
The forum has officially been updated to Proboards V5 and most of the kinks in the switch have been worked out. If you haven't had a chance yet, you will notice that most of the site has already changed. In this thread, the admins will be highlighting some of the more important changes, or just one's that we find really interesting. Keep checking back for updates and more tips and tricks on how to use the new version!
Personal Messages
When you first logged into your account, all of you had a little bubble above the 'Messages' tab reading 20, right? Or maybe more if you received my PM after your first log in. This is a known error in the conversion process. But this is a good way to show you a new feature! Now, when you receive a personal message, or when one of your bookmarks receives a post, you will have a small white bubble appear over the appropriate section to inform you. In order to get rid of this bubble, you will actually have to click on it. Just viewing the message does not seem to get rid of the bubble itself. Hopefully this will be fixed in the future but for now, this seems to be the easiest way to get it fixed.
BBC Coding
Many of you are not familiar with this coding technique, but some of you may be. The old style coding we used to create post templates, or even just to format text, has changed. Some of the codes remain the same but most have had an additional element added or have just changed entirely. This will make it a little more difficult for formatting in the future, but I suggest that until you are completely aware of the coding tags, use the buttons at the top of the reply box to create your formatting.
As an effect of the change in coding, you will find that some of the older posts by some members, or character profile pages, will have coding errors. The staff is working to fix some of the coding in current, on-going posts, but we will not catch every post. If you see one of your own with errors, please fix the coding so we can try to clean up as many posts as possible.
New Social-Media Type Features
Much like Facebook and Twitter, members are now able to 'like' posts, follow members, and even post statuses on their profiles. While we're still not sure quite how these features will affect your RP experience, when you 'like' a post or follow a member, this will help the admins choose the featured characters and thread for the month. It will also be a great way to show other members that you're recognizing their talents and efforts that they put into these said threads.
