physical description "Ms.Black, would you like us to bring you a brush?"
Bellatrix has heard her hair described as heavy on many an occasion, has been told that she needs to tame it more- make it more manageable like her sisters. And maybe for the majority of the time she adheres to such, coats the raven locks with potion to make it smooth and tame the kinks out of curl into either wave or straightened perfection... but honestly- she rather likes the way the tendrils wave up over her skull, pulled down only by the force of gravity. It's wild. It's untamed. It's Bellatrix. She compensates normally by allowed the ends to curl just that much more than the rest of her hair, ignoring the pointed stares from her mother. Just as she ignores the frequent reminders that it might be nearing time to cut the locks into a more suitable 'do. Her hair can usually be found hanging anywhere between the curve above her hips to the bottom of her shoulder blades- any shorter and what your viewing is more than likely a wig, or a spell.
"Bellatrix, just how much time do you spend on recreational outdoor activity?"
None. The answer is none. With skin so pale she must be a vampire, that is one of the leading theories right? It isn't that she's unhealthy or merlin forbid pasty.. it's just that whatever bronzed skin the others in Hogwarts might have been cursed with she was not. Her skin is flawless, a sure sign of her distinct heritage- proof that there had been no mixing in her lineage. It isn't even that she's one prone to burning when out in the sun for too long, its almost as if the rays just don't touch her pores, and maybe that's because she really does- as rumor would have it- have skin as hard as the back of a threstral's tail. It isn't as if there are many there who could dispute otherwise, the list of those allowed to touch her is one so sparse it could hardly be called one.
"Ms.Black didn't understand your reference about her eyes being so large, the better to see you with because that is a muggle tale Dr.Soricio."
Regardless of what tale it is it was certainly fitting- Bellatrix Black was born with an unusually large set of auburn, almost black eyes, eyes that sometimes saw much more than they were intended to. Not that they were adept at expressing any of what they did see. It had been noted in her file that more often than not her eyes appeared vacant- dead, except maybe the few times they were able to talk to her right after her emergence from Hogwarts. The first time she was seen before returning home she was much more engaging, even if that wasn't saying much on the normal spectrum, her eyes were alert- followed every movement and seemed to flash with repressed emotion and thought. On the rare occasion they've been allowed to interview her outside her home entirely it was even noted that expression could be seen crossing her face. Of course it was only minute changes in the muscling beneath her skin, but even that was counted as an extreme difference. It should perhaps be taken down that all of this was only deadened more in the sessions where her father was present.
"She's harsh for such a young girl, it's even on her face."
There have been a few nurses who adamantly refuse to work with the eldest Black child- who have said that even her appearance is beginning to reflect the 'darker' nature she seems to exhibit only when it suits her. The plains of her face are rather more angular than what is befitting the most fashionable of the times, but it seems to work for her, the sharp points only serving to accentuating her tipped nose. It is perhaps a good thing that her lips are not fuller than they are, while they might be described as thinner than the average- and with a lack of motion from them its hard to describe more than their stilled state- their curves are just enough to keep from blurring the line between beauty and odd.
I DON'T WANNA THINK LIKE YOU.& I DON'T WANNA STINK LIKE YOU.

Accute Stress Reaction
By definition, acute stress disorder (abbreviated ASD) is the result of a traumatic event in which the person experiences or witnesses an event that causes the victim/witness to experience extreme, disturbing or unexpected fear, stress or pain, and that involves or threatens serious injury, perceived serious injury or death to themselves or someone else. Acute stress reaction is a variation of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and is the mind's and body's response to feelings (both perceived and real) of intense helplessness.
It should perhaps be noted that the patient has only shown reaction to this with very limited stimuli- in fact we were unsure at all whether or not we could correctly diagnose it as such until well into our second year with the girl. She's most likely, during an incident with this that we've seen, to gain a deeper rogue to the tops of her cheekbones- accelerating breathing has been observed with each case, as well as a dilation of pupils and nervous twitching of fingers. Symptoms are usually only present for about five to ten minutes depending upon the stimuli, more often than not the patient doesn't recall entering that state at all- or even the minutes leading up to it. She's only been recorded once as having not forgotten what it was that we were using to provoke her and we have since stopped experimenting with stimuli due to the violent outbreak that awaited us the two days it took her to come out of the increased anxiety. No medicine that we've attempted to adept to her body seems to have any effect, if anything it only increases her usage of other more recreational drugs. It is safe to say that Bellatrix Black doesn't actually encounter the stimuli we use on a daily basis and that these symptoms are easily covered up in a social situation- according to family members.
Antisocial Personality Disorder
Antisocial personality disorder (ASPD), also called dissocial personality disorder, is a personality disorder characterized by a pervasive pattern of disregard for, or violation of, the rights of others. There may be an impoverished moral sense or conscience and a history of crime, legal problems, impulsive and aggressive behavior.
Bellatrix Black has, over the sixteen years of treatment, shown a callous disregard for any of those that she deems unfit- and a rather startling inclination to move even those she doesn't into that category with the right amount of provocation, as slight as she finds that amount to be. We have noted more than one occasion where the girl was suspected, by those of us in this facility, to have physically harmed another patient. It should be noted that in all of the cases the apparent victim was one who did not fit the girls guidelines for pure birthright. As of yet we have found absolutely no evidence to make this more than idle speculation- and from any we have spoken to in the family or out of her school this behavior is not noted as something that she has even been suspected of, although there have been a few interviewed who didn't find the possibility to be unlikely. What we have caught her out on, violence not being one of her crimes, has been shrugged off entirely- rationalizations at the ready. It seems that there is no reasoning with her on the matter either, but that could be in part due to one of her other disorders. Therapeutic intervention has been dismissed by the parents as well as an extended stay with us for the girl- the most we can do is recommend supervision and a close attention to detail. The subject can be charming enough on her own to fool even those in our practice with an extensive history dealing with the disorder.
Alcohol Abuse
is a psychiatric diagnosis describing the recurring use of alcoholic beverages despite its negative consequences.[1] Alcohol abuse is sometimes referred to by the less specific term alcoholism. However, many definitions of alcoholism exist, and only some are compatible with alcohol abuse. There are two types of alcoholics: those who have anti social and pleasure-seeking tendencies, and those who are anxiety-ridden- people who are able to go without drinking for long periods of time but are unable to control themselves once they start
Yes I think it is safe to say that Ms.Black certainly has this disorder- even if some of the more common side effects haven't been noted. It is also safe to say that as far as we can tell the patient does not indulge in binge drinking or any of the variations that are more commonly found. No once more Ms. Black seems to just... ingest an unhealthy amount of the liquid. Neither parent has reported the girl stealing from their own stashes so we are to also assume that the patient either has an outside supplier or is somehow acquiring the beverages herself through an equally illegitimate source. We have found that the patient has a limited grasp or reaction to any healthy forms of humor or expression of them as well. Again we cannot be definitive in our statement that this is in correlation with this disease alone though- seeing that she is still more than able to form sadistic quips and finds things humorous that should be avidly discouraged. It should also be noted that both parental figures in her life have denied any family history of the illness. Recommended that she be kept from the drug at all costs- again, watched closely. We have yet to have seen improvement.
Avoidant Personality Disorder
a Cluster C personality disorder recognized in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders handbook as afflicting a person when they display a pervasive pattern of social inhibition, feelings of inadequacy, extreme sensitivity to negative evaluation, and avoidance of social interaction.Individuals afflicted with the disorder tend to describe themselves as ill at ease, anxious, lonely, and generally feel unwanted and isolated from others.
This is perhaps one of the more argued of the afflictions the patient suffers from. She was diagnosed with this at eight after a series of tests and questions concerning herself and her peers. It seems almost as if Bellatrix operates between two extremes- being that she, as a person, does not (as most of those suffering from this disorder) have any feelings of inadequacy concerning herself- rather she feels that others do. It is also very likely the most revisited of her issues among our staff being the debate over its actual presence. Being that the patient is neither helpful or willing to be here we cannot offer as much as we could otherwise. Certainly her willingness to lead us on and twist the words from her own mouth- playing games my colleagues have said- makes this all the more difficult to definitively put to rest. We have, as with some of her other disorders, attempted group therapy and social skills training. The first, again, was an unprecedented disaster. It is my professional belief that the continued attempts to put her in any form of group setting at this clinic is both a useless exercise and a danger to our other patients.
Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar disorder, also known as bipolar affective disorder, manic-depressive disorder, or manic depression, is a mental illness classified by psychiatry as a mood disorder. Individuals with bipolar disorder experience episodes of an elevated or agitated mood known as mania (or hypomania, depending on the severity) alternating with episodes of depression.Mania can occur with different levels of severity. At milder levels of mania, or "hypomania", individuals appear energetic, excitable, and may be highly productive. As mania becomes more severe, individuals begin to behave erratically and impulsively, often making poor decisions due to unrealistic ideas about the future, and may have great difficulty with sleep. At the most severe level, individuals can experience very distorted beliefs about the world known as psychosis.
If AvPD was her hardest to diagnose bipolar was very possibly the easiest. Ms.Black's manic episodes do not make her, as many individuals without proper knowledge of the disorder, her any happier or more agreeable. If anything her manic periods are actually highlighted by an increase in aggressive behaviors, certainly an increased willingness to speak with those of us attempting to treat her. Even if they are mostly angry rejoinders and irritable complaints. Her manic episodes are notably worsened when she has access to the various substances she has a history of abusing. Her aggression can turn quite vicious the longer she's examined during this state. She has admitted that her insomnia worsens at the onset of one of her manic episodes, describing several days worth of agitated nights before she's brought to us at the first signs. We haven't been able to accurately assess whether or not her sexuality is at all affected during these episodes as- for as much as we know- she doesn't seem inclined to have any preference at all regarding such things- although there have been several mentions of a nameless betrothed that neither parent seems to know about. Also as far as we can tell what we would normally label as her depressive state is just speculation on our part brought about by a significant loss in weight during certain periods, along with a more listless attitude concerning her... insults. It should also again be noted that the patient is definitely one of the sufferers of bipolar disorder that can assured of rapid cycling. We have attempted psychotherapy, medication, social rhythm therapy, and some of the less widely recognized forms of therapy. Again. No change in the patient. For more please see notes on her Mixed State Bipolar.
Cocaine Dependence
a psychological desire to use cocaine regularly. The use of cocaine creates euphoria and high amounts of energy much like caffeine. if taken in large unsafe doses, it is possible to cause mood swings, paranoia, insomnia, psychosis, high blood pressure, tachycardia, panic attacks, cognitive impairments and drastic changes in personality.
Another of the substances on Bellatrix's preferred line of abuse. Unlike her issues with Alcohol Dependency we have nothing other than speculation and a few traces on her person to go off of. That and her admittance that it is indeed a habit of hers.
Depersonalization Disorder
is a mental disorder in which the sufferer is affected by persistent or recurrent feelings of depersonalization and/or derealization. In the DSM-IV-TR this disorder is classified as a dissociative disorder; in the ICD-10 it is called depersonalization-derealization syndrome and classified as an independent neurotic disorder.
The first time she referred to herself in the third person was a casual slip we thought, her narcissism peeking through. And while it isn't to be doubted that she is indeed narcissistic, with her own sort of god complex, further development convinced us that it (while rare) was a symptom of depersonalization. This particular disorder did not begin to noticeably manifest itself until her later teens. The first clue we were given into it was when she asked if we were doing the tunnel lights to try and annoy her- tunnel lights only she apparently could see. As there were four of us in the office at the time and we were all viewing a well lit room it was put down as a hallucination. Further symptoms seem to include her speaking as if she is not always in control of her own body, as if it is moving and acting on its own. Again, the majority of this one is based off of speculation as well due to an unwillingness of the patient to comply. Given that she has no close family that we are allowed to speak with on trying to work through the physical manifestations of this we are left to leave her to dealing with it as best she can.
Dyslexia
the brain does not properly recognize and process certain symbols.
All in all one of her more mild disorders- the patient exhibited early difficulty in distinguishing between 'b's and 'd's. With numbers it was noted that she had a tendency to flip her sevens. Although early detection was made she was not enrolled in one of our programs here at the clinic but instead taken and presumably taught by Druella herself. We have noted that she favors a quicknotesquill over most others and anything that is handwritten by her is painstakingly perfect even down to calligraphy. Almost typed in the way that every line and curve has to be completely symmetrical.
Grandoise Delusions
is principally a subtype of delusional disorder that occurs in patients suffering from a wide range of mental illnesses, including two-thirds of patients in manic state of bipolar disorder, half of those with schizophrenia and a substantial portion of those with substance abuse disorders.GDs are characterized by fantastical beliefs that one is famous, omnipotent, wealthy, or otherwise very powerful. The delusions are generally fantastic and typically have a supernatural, science-fictional, or religious theme. There is a relative lack of research into GD, in comparison to persecutory delusions and auditory hallucinations.
As far as we can tell she affords herself no title, only demands that she be treated with the respect due to her- a normal and even healthy wish were it not for the lengths she believes one must go to. Acting it out with her and following her rules is very similar to rules that haven't been followed since the middle ages. She seems to think that she is of an even more elite group than that of the pureblood hierarchical structure that we're all aware her family is tied to. There have been times she's made reference to a coming change- something she's been repeating since she first came into this office at two. There has been no headway made on removing these illusions from her mind- and even the question raised on if it would be possible.
Impulse Control Disorder
failure to resist a temptation, urge or impulse that may harm oneself or others. Five behavioural stages characterize impulsivity: an impulse, growing tension, pleasure from acting, relief from the urge and finally guilt (which may or may not arise)
Unsurprisingly the patient doesn't seem to suffer from the guilt that usually follows impulsive behavior. The subject seems to understand that her behavior is extremely impulsive- but again her delusions on just how important she is seem to cut into that and she has expressed the belief that again- it is her birthright. The patient doesn't seem to have any real remorse should her impulsive behaviors bring about negative reprecussions on others- and shows only minimal emotion should it come back on herself. Cognitive behavioral therapy has been attempted several times but as of yet has seen no improvement.
Kleptomania
is the inability to refrain from the urge to steal items for reasons other than personal use or financial gain
the first instances of this were recorded in this very office- pens and paperweights going missing after her visits. Slowly it escalated to things within the desk that we couldn't account to just how she got to. The patient, unlike many who also suffer from the disorder, doesn't avidly seek to hide the fact that she has in fact stolen the belongings. Although- the way she rationalizes it sounds less like she believes in stealing so much as reclaiming. If she wants it then in her mind it is already hers, and while she is more than aware that the person she took it from most likely does not agree she doesn't seem to show much of anything other than a quiet sort of contempt. Ms. Black has on more than one occasion been known to pull out whatever it is that she's stolen from a person where they can see- whether its just to rub it in their face or to tempt them into trying to react its unclear. Several behavioral and medicinal remedies have been attempted to try and correct this behavior... Recommended that those who are aware of the disorder pay special attention to their belongings.
Mixed State Bipolar
a condition during which features of mania and depression, such as agitation, anxiety, fatigue, guilt, impulsiveness, irritability, morbid or suicidal ideation, panic, paranoia, pressured speech and rage, occur simultaneously. Typical examples include tearfulness during a manic episode or racing thoughts during a depressive episode. One may also feel incredibly frustrated or be prone to fits of rage in this state, since one may feel like a failure and at the same time have a flight of ideas. Mixed states are often the most problematic period of mood disorders, during which susceptibility to substance abuse, panic disorder, commission of violence, suicide attempts, and other complications increase greatly.
Please see also Bipolar Disorder in her charts.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
repetitive behaviors aimed at reducing the associated anxiety; or by a combination of such obsessions and compulsions. Symptoms of the disorder include excessive washing or cleaning; repeated checking; extreme hoarding; preoccupation with sexual, violent or religious thoughts; relationship-related obsessions; aversion to particular numbers; and nervous rituals, such as opening and closing a door a certain number of times before entering or leaving a room.
Ms. Black has exhibited certain signs such as needing to wash her hands for a whole of two minutes and two minutes exactly. Also noted that she cannot stand tags sticking out of people's clothing, including her own.
Pyromania
is an impulse control disorder in which individuals repeatedly fail to resist impulses to deliberately start fires, in order to relieve tension or for instant gratification.
See also impulse control. Not to be confused with arson we have yet to know of any illegal activity that's been committed. Only that the child herself was fond of playing with matches and setting things on fire. At odds with the rest of her personality she tends to keep her fires controlled so far as we know.
Sadomasochism
is the giving and/or receiving of pleasure—often sexual—from acts involving the infliction or reception of pain or humiliation.
