I betrayed myself---
when I let others have their way.
when I let others have their way.
Felix was mad. Felix was always mad, but this time he had something to actually be mad about. After Hufflepuff practice the other day, Cole had shoved his way in for some practicing of his own in the Quidditch Pitch. It wouldn’t have been a problem if Felix hadn’t needed it – which, yeah, he had. But what was he supposed to do, practice in the same arena as the enemy? Why did Gryffindors always do that, take what isn’t theirs? Felix could have sworn he had written his own name down on the reservation role for that time slot. Miraculously, when he’d double-checked it, his name was missing. Thus, he could only come to one logical conclusion – Cole had rubbed it off, blotted it right out, so that he could have the time slot. He’d done it; Felix knew he’d done it. There’s no way he’d accidentally signed up at a different time! Even if his name was written down for a time period that conflicted with Astronomy class. You know what the answer for that little conundrum was? Cole had rewritten his name somewhere else, the little devil. He had another thing coming if he thought something like that was going to just slip by Felix. Everyone thought they could pull the wool over on a Hufflepuff, but Felix wasn’t just any Hufflepuff – he was a Hufflepuff who needed an attitude adjustment.
He had to confront him, or who knows how long this was going to carry on for. Besides, it was a total affront to his manhood to just let it slide. As a Hufflepuff, you had to stand your ground every time something like this happened, because if you roll over once, it’s over. Game over. No one will take him seriously ever again. He stared at the back of Cole’s head during Charms class, burning an imaginary hole right smack dab in the center of it. As soon as class let out, Felix abruptly shoved his only book he carried with him underneath his arm and pushed his way through the crowd to reach the front door as quickly as possible. Cole was only a short walk down the hallway and Felix easily caught up to him. At first, he purposely walked by the other boy and shouldered him roughly as he walked past, hoping to knock him off balance. Then he turned around to face him dead on, giving him a fiery, accusatory look as vibrant as his red hair. “Hey, just because you’re a ‘team captain’ doesn’t mean you own the pitch and everyone else in it. Quit messing up the practice schedule and deal with the slots that are left. You take my name off the register again and I’ll use you for bludger practice.” Never mind that he was a chaser. The point was solid, okay? Jesus these captains were the most arrogant people in the school, and a Gryffindor to boot. Felix was going to find a way to blame the Gryffindor complex all on Johannes, one he thought up a good one.
