It has been some time since the Dark Lord made himself known to the Austrian wizarding world. His DeathEaters have been roaming the earth, striking fear in the hearts of wizards and muggles alike. The Ministry’s across the world are turning to Austria for help, for advice on how to take care of their unwelcome guests. Minister Wagner has been newly appointed with the hopes that he will find a way to rid the world of the Dark Lord and his DeathEaters. He brings with him a fresh perspective and a good track record of completing anything he sets his mind to. This change in leadership has Austrians excited, hoping that soon they will be able to walk out of their homes without any concerns of a Dark Lord, no wondering where he will strike next, if at all.
Because that is the question on everyone’s mind. It has been a year since the Dark Lord himself has made an appearance, since he has launched a large attack on the world or made an attempt at overthrowing the Ministry. Most people have assumed he was in hiding, allowing his DeathEaters to do his dirty work. However, as the activity of the DeathEaters slows, rumors are spreading that the Dark Lord has resigned himself from destroying the Ministry. Even his DeathEaters are beginning to grow tired of wreaking havoc with no end game. Is he trying to lead the wizarding world into a false sense of security with the recent calm or has the Dark Lord really left?
Only the DeathEaters now know the truth. There is a new Dark Lord. Godfrey Dunhill has taken his place as Dark Lord, overthrowing the inactive Darren Morgan. Even though he has just come to power, he already has a plan in the works. Soon he will make his name known. Soon he will show the wizarding world across the globe that he has no intentions of losing. But what does he want? What is it that he’s looking to gain? And, the ultimate question. What side of this battle will you choose?
Well at least thats my opinion on the movie. Little choppy at parts but absolutely brilliant. I'll wait till most of you see it before I dive any further into a discussion.

I just got back about 45 minutes ago. The movie was more than excellent or amazing....it was amazingly excellent/brilliant! Although I was somewhat upset that they left some parts out that I would have really liked to have seen, it was wonderfully made and I cannot wait to see it again Tuesday!
Yeah I saw it twice already. Its even better the second time around. I was able to relax a bit more and actually absorb everything. Not like last night when I was having heart failure everytime I saw Hermione and Ron have a moment.

AHHHHHH IT WAS AMAZING!
Ok so I have an obsession with Cedric and Krum. Big deal! Don't look at me like that!!
Anyway...I think I was the only one in the theater that was gasping anytime they were on the screen. And the part where krum only has that little shirt on. Oh man..that was genius.
Omg..yeah, that movie totally rocked...I'm going to see it again tomorrow...^^ And then me and my friends are going to se it again next Friday..heh, we're such dorks...xP
Yay! For the start of my rant for criticizing. Okay... Are you people prepared? If you're not... too bad.
I found the movie to be good, but not as good as the others. The fourth book was one of my favorites, but the movie was not. I felt as though it was focused around just the triwizard tournament.
Voldemort could've looked alot scarier. The book was creepier as well. What made me tick was that they didn't have the whole SPEW thing. They could've atleast have the thing were they believed the house elf set off the dark mark. They choped a lot... I mean A LOT of sences up.
Visual effect were excellant, though. They had the "Reign of Fire"(love that movie) dragon. The horntail. Exactly the same way they blow fire. So... its not that original with the blowing fire thing, but still SWEET!
I have to say my favorite part of the movie was when Snape was pulling Ron and Harry's hair and hiting them in the head with books for no reason. I was laughing so much, during that.
Third movie is still my favorite, but if you are as obsessed as I am, you need to see it. I'm seeing it again with some friends, today I think. ^^;;

Yeah I agree with you on the cutting of a lot of scenes, but its understandable. I watched this documentary on the making of the movie, and there were apparently two different screenplays they had written. One followed a more simple path that focused on the friendship of the trio and Harry's sudden dilemma of being thrown in the tournament. A simpler path that would have given us SPEW and other minor details. The other screenplay, which was obviously the one used, was more of a following of the tournament and the teenage angst that follows every kid around that age. Mike Newell said the reason he took the later screenplay was because the book was named HP and GoF not HP and a lot of little minor things that don’t show the heroic but also the teenage side of Harry. He understood, along with JK Rowling who had to approve the movie, that there were things that people were going to be pissed about. There was no possible way for them to fit at huge book like that into one movie unless they focused solely on one aspect. The tournament.
Not that I'm saying they couldn't have done more, cause they could have. I personally was pissed that they never told us that Harry gave the tournament winnings to the twins. Anyone notice this dilemma. HOW ARE THEY GOING TO OPEN WWW? Overall, I did find it to be the very best. Which was really surprising for me cause I went into the theater swearing that nothing could beat POA. I was wrong. Mostly cause I can deal without SPEW, accept that he let Neville gave Harry the gillyweed instead of Dobby, brush off the fact that he put the Patel twins in the same house, and ultimately not care that Krum did not call Hermione, Her-My-O-Ninny once. I can do this because the final scene in which Harry finally comes face to face with Voldemort was terrifying. Not look wise, but the simple way he talks to Harry. Like he has no care in the world. I think Ralph Fiennes was an amazing cast for Voldemort. He can go from psychotic to calm in the matter of seconds, and make it look believable. Thats how I always imagined Voldie. A man who can be ever so charming in order to get what he wants, and then in a blink a ruthless vial man who scares the hell out of you.
Overall I totally agree that they could have added a few more elements to satisfy us HP nerds. Ye in the end, I have never been more satisfied with a HP movie then with GoF.
